As we continue to work from home, user experience has never been more critical. The Citrix Workspace app makes it easy for end-users to access all their applications and desktops via Citrix Workspace. As I mentioned in my earlier blog post, while the app is easy to install, getting started for some users might be a challenge and can lead to helpdesk calls.

The new Citrix Global App Configuration Service, now in tech preview, gives Citrix admins the ability to deliver Citrix Workspace service URLs and Citrix Workspace app settings through a centrally managed service. The service is great for newly deployed devices where users are required to configure the Citrix Workspace app for any custom settings after installation occurs and remember their Citrix Workspace (store) URL.

Use cases include:

  • Migration of email-based discovery for the Citrix Workspace app to the Citrix Cloud service. Maintaining SRV records are now a thing of the past.
  • Centrally deploy settings for the Citrix Workspace app to your device, whether on or off the corporate Active Directory domain.
  • Centrally control Citrix Workspace app updates for all supported devices.

The service includes support for Windows (New), iOS, and Android devices. There’s no need for GPO/ADMX/web.config configuration for Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop ICA settings.

Settings include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Workspace Account Settings (URL, Store Description, etc.)
  • Keyboard
  • Audio
  • Display
  • Session Reliability

And getting started has never been easier.

  • Windows Endpoints: Contact your Citrix representative to gain access to our private builds and documentation.
  • iOS and Android Endpoints: Visit our developer portal and download the Citrix Workspace app, available in the public app store.

We look forward to our customers getting started with this great new feature as we continue to evolve this service!
