Recently I had the pleasure, honor, privilege of talking to one of my favorite infrastructure engineers, Ulrik Christensen from Oncology Venture. And the story he told me absolutely stunned and amazed me and left me literally speechless. And if you know anything about me, I am not one who is short for words, writings, or remarks. 😉

As a little background, Oncology Venture specializes in analyzing clinical samples to recommend the best treatment path for patients who are battling cancer. It’s amazingly important work, and as someone who has been deeply impacted by cancer, I know all too well how important it can be.

Ulrik told me that when they were conducting their tests with their legacy on-prem infrastructure they could only perform eight tests simultaneously. They had users spread across multiple locations, including Denmark and my hometown of Boston. They were on a variety of devices — Windows, Mac, Android, and more. But what they really needed was a centralized solution.

That’s when they decided to migrate to a solution that used Citrix Workspace to deliver the standardized apps and desktops; Citrix Cloud to centralize and better manage the infrastructure components; and Google Cloud Platform to host those critical workloads. And as a result? Well I hope you’re sitting down for this. In fact I will press CAPS LOCK now because I am so excited.

ONCOLOGY VENTURE WENT FROM EIGHT TESTS TO HUNDREDS AND EVEN THOUSANDS OF TESTS SIMULTANEOUSLY!

That is the magnitude of flexibility, scalability and manageability that their new cloud deployment gave them! Imagine being able to do some of the most important work, helping people fight cancer, and doing it with a degree of performance gains such as Oncology Venture did.

But don’t take my word for it. Watch Ulrik give all the details below. And join Ulrik and my colleague Ejal Bracha for their Google Cloud Next ’20: OnAir session — Cancer Treatment Technology Enhanced by Citrix, Google Cloud — to learn more.
