Five ways ShareFile adds value to Microsoft
The impact of the Microsoft and Citrix partnership is undeniable with over 230,000 joint customers and tens of millions of users that rely on a joint solution every day.
ShareFile serves as a complement to the existing Microsoft infrastructure, furthering extending the value of Office and Office 365 subscriptions and further leveraging Azure investments. No wonder companies want to maximize their investment their investment with Citrix and ShareFile. With that background in mind, here are 5 ways ShareFile can add value your Microsoft investment:
Connect to Data, wherever it is stored, any time, any place, on any device
Access to Content in the Cloud or On-Prem
Organizations have the flexibility to choose where their data is stored on-premises, on their Azure cloud or a combination of both to meet their specific needs for data sovereignty, compliance, performance and costs with ShareFile’s innovative StorageZones.
ShareFile serves as a “single pane of glass” for multiple storage repositories, and delivers value for content stored within ShareFile, as well as outside of ShareFile via StorageZone Connectors that allow users to connect to network shares, Microsoft SharePoint, OneDrive for Business, and personal cloud connectors, extending connectivity to all your digital sharing and collaboration tools. ShareFile is built with connectors that allow users to have a single point of access to all data sources including networks drives, OneDrive, SharePoint, as well as personal cloud repositories.
Microsoft Exchange Connector
In addition to StorageZone Connectors, ShareFile offers a Connector to Microsoft Exchange. Unique to ShareFile, customers using the ShareFile Exchange Connector can download and share attachments via email using Microsoft Exchange. Users now have the ability to easily access, download, and share those files just as they do with files from other data sources using ShareFile as a single pane of glass.
Providing additional layers of security
Secure by design
ShareFile understands the challenges in balancing security and user experience. Our vision is to enable additional security automation based on data and its context like user, device, location, operations and other relevant data within the Microsoft product and cloud environments.
Granular controls protect encrypted data at rest (with AES), in transit (with SSL), and during access and use.
Information Rights Management (IRM)
The authentication process follows the file itself, ensuring secure access to sensitive content only by intended recipients
Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
DLP helps organizations enforce regulated industry requirements, company governance policies, and security parameters for audit reporting and compliance.
Leveraging access and usage of Microsoft Products
In addition to the Exchange Connector mentioned above, ShareFile delivers robust productivity capabilities with the Outlook plug-in which integrates with Microsoft Outlook and converts attachments into links automatically to keep all content store in a single repository regardless of how it is created or shared among users. All attachments are converted into links by default, simplifying large file sharing both within and outside the organization without compromising security or controls.
Leveraging Azure for Cloud Storage
To help IT regain control over employee file sharing, organizations are turning to two leaders, Microsoft and Citrix, to deliver a highly secure and validated enterprise file sync and sharing solution with flexible data storage options. With Microsoft Azure, IT can place data in different geographic locations that are closer to users to improve performance and meet compliance needs. Businesses benefit from the elasticity and flexibility of the cloud while maintaining ownership of their own encryption keys—an advantage typically only available on-premises.
With the goal of expanding valuable solutions to their customers, Citrix and Microsoft are taking their relationship one step further. Our current Intune integration allows for users who have their device enrolled in Microsoft’s Intune environment to use ShareFile according to those policies and allowing ShareFile to interact with all applications managed by Intune MAM including ability to leverage Azure Active Directory, Conditional Access to mention but a few.
Accessing Data in Virtual Environments
Cloud Connectors in ShareFile Drive Mapper: Extending OneDrive for VDI
ShareFile Drive Mapper with connectors to Office365 (OneDrive), which improves performance and optimizes file sync and share, for virtual desktop environments. Drive Mapper allows users to connect an account as a mapped drive on the Windows file system, without performing a full sync of account content.
By using Drive Mapper and StorageZone Connectors, ShareFile gives users the ultimate flexibility, providing a single point of access to multiple data repositories, including networks drives, OneDrive, SharePoint, and personal cloud repositories. Whether your company uses Citrix XenDesktop or any other virtual desktop solution, you can use the same file sync-and-share solution across both physical and virtual endpoints, and across on-premises and cloud storage.
ShareFile is the only file sync and share solution optimized for virtual desktops. The same file sync-and-share solution experience is used across both physical and virtual endpoints. Organizations can leverage existing investments and mobilize network shares, SharePoint, Personal Cloud repositories, or any other ECM System while optimizing load times for streamlined used in a VDI.
Improve Collaboration using ShareFile and Microsoft Office 365 and Teams
Office 365 editing/co-editing
ShareFile users can improve productivity and collaboration with the ability to co-author Office documents from within ShareFile. The expansion of this service to cover both cloud and the newly added on-premises storage is ideal for strict data compliance, as it limits user access and keeps data secure through file encryption.
This is yet another example of the close partnership between Citrix and Microsoft. Citrix was an inaugural member of the Microsoft Cloud Storage Partner Program and this gives ShareFile the ability to integrate closely with Office Online.
Office 365 Teams
Teams is the new chat-based workspace in Office 365. In addition to the OneDrive and SharePoint storage included in Teams, which gives every channel a SharePoint folder; users can now share and collaborate on files with Citrix ShareFile with the same user experience.
Secure external file sharing
Sharing content externally with clients and partners can often be a challenge. ShareFile makes it simple to share documents both internally and externally, all while keep documents secure.
Through innovation, Microsoft and ShareFile continue to empower our customers to reimagine the way work gets done with the secure deliver of data in for users in any environment.
