Almost two years ago, my family and I moved a little south of San Jose, California, to a great little town called Morgan Hill. The commute is a bit longer, but I’m loving the country/suburban living. The move came with another unexpected benefit: Morgan Hill sits right in the middle of Santa Clara Valley — wine country, home to more than 40 wineries and 1,500 acres of vines, some dating as far back as the late 1700s. Needless to say, I’ve had a lot of fun exploring the region, tasting some great wines and meeting some really cool people along the way.

For wine makers, September is the beginning of harvest season — taking grapes that are perfectly ripe and turning them into something more refined and far more valuable.

For those of you who follow this blog series, you know that every month I highlight all the new feature additions to Citrix Workspace. The features are kind of like grapes. They’re great by themselves but when blended together, the finished product (Citrix Workspace) is where you’ll find the most value and satisfaction, just like a fine wine.

Our hardworking product teams were busy in September. Below you’ll find all the new features and capabilities introduced last month.

Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops service

September was a big month for Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops service. So much so, that team has its own What’s New blog post. Here are the highlights:

  • Performance Analytics (Tech Preview) for enhanced end-user experience
  • New Cloud Connector controls for improved visibility and management
  • Device information now on License and Usage page

Citrix Secure Workspace Access and Citrix Gateway

Citrix Workspace, in conjunction with an on-premises Citrix Gateway, now supports a wide range of advanced authentication capabilities. This includes contextual access and multi-factor authentication. This will allow you to integrate with RADIUS, SAML, federation, conditional access policies, passwordless auth, EPA, n-Factor, and many other options into Citrix Workspace! See this blog about the feature.

Check out Citrix Gateway integration in action:

Citrix Workspace is also now offering a public tech preview for utilizing Okta as an identity provider. This will allow you to create a unified, seamless login experience between Workspace and your Okta resources. You will also be able to integrate Okta’s authentication features and benefits such as conditional access polices and multifactor authentication capabilities.

Citrix Endpoint Management

When iOS 13 was released September 19, our Citrix Endpoint Management (CEM) was ready with Day 0 platform support. Check out this blog post for more specifics on CEM support for iOS 13.

Additionally, for Citrix Endpoint Management service, we have newly supported features for Android Enterprise.

CEM support for Android Enterprise now allows for a fully managed device with a work profile? What does that mean? It means that a fully managed company-owned device can be given to workers that includes both a work profile and a personal profile. This is important because it allows workers to still have personal privacy while using a corporate-issued device as their primary device. Who wants to carry around two phones all the time? Not me!

There have also been improvements to the mobile app publishing process with Android Enterprise. Using Citrix Endpoint Management service, admins can now publish and approve applications from the Google Play store directly from the CEM console.

Citrix Analytics

Just like the process of going from grape juice to wine, this month’s theme for Citrix Analytics updates is refinement; we’re focusing on some subtle but important (and frequently requested) enhancements. For starters, the team updated the default time period across dashboards from “last 1 hour” to “last 1 month.”

Self-Service Search

The self-service search feature enables you to find and filter raw user events based on the data sources. You can now seamlessly switch back and forth between the user risk timeline and the self-service search page. Once on the self-service search page, you can sort events by time.

Custom Reporting

Custom reports are created from data sources onboarded to Citrix Analytics. Data attributes (called Dimensions) from data sources are used to group events together. Several new dimensions have been added from Citrix Secure Workspace Access, Citrix Content Collaboration and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops.

Risk Indicators Dashboard

On the main Users page, the Risk Indicators dashboard has been added to provide a summary of the top five default and custom risk indicators.

Risky Users Dashboard

Several updates on this page enable you to view the top five risky users based on risk indicators. A new occurrences column summarizes the total occurrences of default and custom risk indicators.

Share Link Risk Indicator (Excessive Downloads)

Citrix Analytics detects access threats based on excessive downloads on a share link and triggers the excessive downloads risk indicator.

Self-Service Search for Authentication Data

The search provides a detailed report on authentication events from Citrix Cloud Identity and Access Management. It helps identify any authentication issues and troubleshoot them.

As always, for more details check out the Citrix Analytics What’s New page.

Citrix Content Collaboration

Citrix Files for Outlook (6.5) plug-in now is available. The file browser has been redesigned, making selecting and sharing files even easier.  Users can access recent files directly from the plug-in and share the latest version of a file from Citrix Files or personal cloud connectors. Get more information here.

We added a lot of great new features to Citrix Workspace in September. Join me in raising a glass to all the hardworking members of our product teams. Cheers!
