Keeping secrets is always challenging and never very fun. So today, right here and now, I’m going to tell you a huge secret about Citrix Workspace. In less than 30 days, at Citrix Synergy 2019, we plan on making some announcements that are going to knock your socks off. But that’s all I can say for now. You’re going to have to be patient for a few more weeks.

While I have your attention, here’s some good news. You can hear all of our exciting new Workspace announcements live by tuning in to Citrix Synergy TV on May 21 at 9 a.m. (GMT).

In April, we added some really useful features to the Citrix Workspace. Since these are no longer a secret, I’ll review them for you below.

More Ways to Customize Citrix Workspace

One of the many benefits to Citrix Workspace is the ability to customize and make it your own. In addition to tools like brand personalization, we’ve released two new customization features that will help meet your goals.

Workspace timeout enables IT to specify the amount of idle time before users are automatically logged out. With the ability to choose in the range of one minute to eight hours before logging users out, you have the flexibility to add additional security to your Workspace while not interrupting users’ workflows. Please note this preference applies to browser access only and does not apply to access from a local Citrix Workspace app.

Additionally, you can now choose how users access their virtual apps and desktops through Citrix Workspace with Citrix Workspace preferences. Administrators can choose in a native app, in a browser, or let users choose. This empowers IT to ensure that users are getting the workspace experience they’ve deemed is best for their organization or to give end users the flexibility to choose what works for them. Please note this feature only applies to apps and desktops delivered through Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops.

Citrix Hypervisor 8.0 Has Launched!

On a new platform, the Citrix Hypervisor 8.0 lays the foundation for continued innovation on making your virtualization solutions the best they can be. With new features like Windows Server 2019 support and the ability to create VMs with larger than 2TB disks, Citrix Hypervisor is ready to meet the future needs of your environment. Check out the Citrix Hypervisor release blog for more information.

Support for Google Chrome, Android Enterprise Policies

Citrix Endpoint Management continues to grow support for Google Chrome and Android Enterprise devices. Available in April, CEM supports Web and SaaS apps and Web links for Android Enterprise devices. This enables delivery for Web apps, SaaS apps and Web links to Android Enterprise devices, through the CEM console.

On Chrome OS, CEM now supports additional restrictions: display instructions on disabled devices and allow users to install specific extensions, apps, and themes. With these added restrictions, IT admins can choose to add a custom message to display on disabled Chrome OS devices. They can also enter a list of URLs to permit download of specific extensions, apps, and themes. Our continued growth and support for device policies enables Citrix customers to offer their employees device choice.

Tech Preview – Multi-Factor Authentication with TOTP

Continuing in April, the Citrix Workspace platform now supports multi-factor authentication capability across all workspace services. This helps to enforce stricter authentication requirements on end users while preventing any unauthorized access. This capability is delivered natively from Citrix Workspace and does not require any third-party authentication service.

With these new capabilities, customers can configure user authentication with on-premises Active Directory and One-time password. Once enabled, end users can enroll their devices using an on-screen wizard. Token-based one-time passwords can be generated on laptops (MacOS, Windows) and mobile devices (iOS, Android, Windows) using Citrix SSO app. This app can be downloaded from here or from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Users can also use Google authenticator, or Microsoft Authenticator apps for generating passwords.
