There’s one constant in the technology space — change. With Citrix and Microsoft shipping updates every few months and customers standing up new deployments daily with ever-changing workloads, the resource bottlenecks and scalability of Citrix environments are constantly in flux. We felt there was no better time than the present to provide a formal update. Even better, Citrix Consulting is teaming up with Login VSI on April 18 for a webinar that will provide a holistic update on scalability, using real-world examples from the field. This is a webinar you won’t want to miss, and it’s absolutely free.

Scalability with Login VSI

I’ve been at Citrix 15 years now, and the question I still get the most from customers is, “How many users can I get on this box?” Or to put it another way, “How much hardware do I need to purchase to support our workloads?” After years of answering these questions, I finally did some analysis on the guidance I was providing and noticed there was a theme: It was almost always based on CPU being the limiting factor, and the number of physical cores in a given piece of hardware had a direct correlation to user density.

As a result, I came up with The Rule of 5 and 10 to enable IT pros to quickly gauge Single Server Scalability or user density. But this “rule” is now a couple years old. In addition, Microsoft has shipped a new Server OS (2019), and we have shipped about eight new Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops releases since then. I’m now getting questioned about whether these magic multipliers (five and 10) hold up in 2019.

In this webinar, we’ll dive into how the latest Citrix and Microsoft releases, Intel hardware updates, and other factors impact scalability in today’s world. We’ll look at a handful of real-world deployments to see how these magic multipliers stack up against actual line-of-business apps and workloads. My co-presenter, Mark Plettenberg, will also share some of the latest results using Login VSI. This includes a look at Windows 10, Server 2019, and Office 2019 scalability.

If you want to learn more, attend the April Technology in Practice Series webinar. Mark and I will run through some key scalability updates, and we’ll also be doing a live Q&A at the end. We’ll take any and all questions you might have related to our content or performance and scalability testing.
