We’re pleased to present this guest post by Scott McPherson, Solutions Director, MOQdigital Australia – Citrix Partner and finalist for the 2018 Citrix Innovation Award for Partners.

Our goal at MOQdigital is to help businesses achieve more. Right now, for many of our customers that means digital transformation, but what that transformation looks like can take many shapes and forms in different organisations.

Sometimes, it’s about transitioning away from older systems to software-as-a-service (SaaS) for faster access to more business applications. Sometimes, it’s looking at what the cloud can provide for a whole range of business functions that would historically live in-house. In many cases, digital transformation means working through business processes to help our customers become more efficient and giving them the ability to grow in a competitive market. Business insights and analytics are a big focus as well, exposing more of the data within our customers’ systems to help them make better decisions.

In all cases, however, the big-picture goals are the same: helping our customers operate with more efficiency, productivity, mobility, and security, and Citrix is playing a central role in helping us make that happen.

Fueling Transformation

Citrix gives us a variety of solutions that make it easier for MOQdigital to help our customers transform their businesses. The mobility Citrix provides allows people to access applications and data anywhere, from any device with added security simply from the way Citrix manages access. There are also powerful business capabilities, too, from simplifying disaster recovery to accelerating the integration of new workers after a merger or acquisition.

In our experience, however, two core attributes stand out in the way that Citrix enables digital transformation:

    • It works. When we’re providing access to a business’ applications and data, the process needs to be smooth and reliable, so that business-as-usual is not affected. Citrix has been doing this for many years. When we talk to our customers about changing the way their people work, we’re very confident that we can stand behind Citrix solutions without risking their business continuity or trust.
    • It provides a great user experience. The other area where Citrix really stands out—and not just the access solutions, but networking, SD WAN and others—is the simple, consistent end-user experience. Across any type of device our customers have the same user experience. Limited training is required across different interfaces because whichever device they use, they’re accessing their data and applications the same way.

When we combine all these capabilities the way Citrix solutions do, we see the benefits of digital transformation become obvious. Giving our customers a great user experience across devices with minimal disruption or ongoing training, means businesses faster become more efficient with a better way to work.

Avoiding Pitfalls on the Journey

Customers come to us at various stages on their digital transformation journey. Some are looking for advice and direction on how to get started, while others are already on the journey and have lost direction. A common roadblock we see is organisations launching bring-your-own-device (BYOD) initiatives without standardising data and application access. Often, companies look to BYOD to give their staff more flexibility, but quickly find themselves with a very fragmented environment. This makes things much harder for IT, can make users less productive, and generally makes new technology initiatives less likely to succeed.

This isn’t a new problem; organisations have been trying to find the right balance for a decade or more. Traditionally, companies restricted the ways staff could operate on their devices. Those restrictions made life simpler for the business—but often at the expense of users, who were forced into inefficient ways of working.

In the generation since then, tools and systems have advanced, and with the rise of the cloud and SaaS, businesses can have the best of both worlds. Citrix was one of the first companies to really find that balance: empowering users with more flexibility, while keeping systems simple and consistent for the business. It’s why we both implement Citrix, and use Citrix at MOQdigital ourselves, from connecting our remote sites across Australia and Asia-Pacific, to access virtual desktops in the cloud, to making our core systems more accessible to our people.

A Winning Partnership

At the end of the day, Citrix helps our company stay ahead of the unpredictable. The solutions have helped us successfully transition through our own digital transformation journey, and it’s why we feel so comfortable using Citrix to help our customers transform their businesses, too.
