As employee experience evolves in this new era of hybrid work, organizations are increasingly looking for opportunities to better support seamless and friction-free workflows for their end users, while keeping security top of mind. One common challenge employees encounter is the excessive amount of time it takes to initiate a usable session to access the resources they need. Navigating multiple logons and remembering long, complex passwords (or having to reset them) can be time-consuming and keep workers from quickly accessing business-critical apps, desktops, and files.

At Citrix, we’re focused on delivering technologies that strike the right balance between ensuring enterprise-level security and providing a consistent work experience for users. With our customers’ feedback in mind, we’re excited to share that we’ve extended the ability for admins to increase the reauthentication period by up to 365 days, allowing Citrix Workspace users to enjoy a much longer single sign-on (SSO) experience when accessing either Citrix Workspace app or their Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops sessions.

Let’s take a look at how this works and how it can empower employees to be more effective in their day-to-day work.

Enabling Reauthentication Period for Citrix Workspace App

As a Citrix admin, you can simply log in to the Citrix Cloud administrative console to enable the feature. You’ll find it under Workspace Configuration → Customize → Preferences → Reauthentication Period for Workspace App.

It’s really that easy. Once enabled, all the end user needs to do is accept the consent dialog, pictured below, before they can have access to stay signed in.

Currently, this feature is supported for both the Citrix Workspace app and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops sessions. The supported authentication methods are as follows:

Authentication methods for staying signed in to Citrix Workspace app:

  • Active Directory
  • Active Directory plus token
  • Azure Active Directory
  • Citrix Gateway
  • Okta

Authentication methods for staying signed in to Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops sessions:

  • Active Directory (if FAS is deployed)
  • Active Directory plus token
  • Citrix Gateway
  • Okta (if FAS is deployed)

This feature is supported across Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS client apps. For complete details on this feature, please check out our product documentation.
