It’s a new year, and we’re all in the thick of setting goals and priorities for the next 12 months. In our latest Fieldwork by Citrix report, we break down key recommendations for building a workplace that wins in 2022.

The report is primarily based on Citrix research with Pulse, in which we surveyed 400 IT and security decision-makers to better understand the challenges hybrid work models present and how leaders plan to manage the ongoing demands of IT and employee experience.

What are the key takeaways from the research?

As hybrid work continues to be the norm, the demands on IT continue to grow. Faced with issues of cybersecurity, employee enablement, talent retention and development, IT efficiency, and more, IT feels they have gained responsibility in all areas. And it’s true. Here are some of the top findings:

  1. When it comes to security, respondents are most concerned about ransomware attacks (41 percent) and insider threats (18 percent).
  2. In the context of hybrid work, respondents are most focused on bridging the cybersecurity knowledge gap (32 percent) and managing the pace of digital acceleration with cybersecurity investment (29 percent).
  3. The two biggest barriers to accelerating business transformation in support of the business are:
    1. Lack of understanding the needs across the business to effectively prioritize technology investments (41 percent).
    2. Cumbersome, complex infrastructure (34 percent).
  4. IT teams are experiencing burnout, from working extra hours to experiencing high turnover. But almost 40 percent believe that investing in systems to simplify and automate workloads would improve team well-being.

What does it look like to build a workplace that wins in 2022?

Taking a close look at the research findings, Fieldwork by Citrix identified three areas of learning to help IT and business leaders alike break free of old limitations and empower their organizations to thrive in 2022 and beyond.

  1. Empower collaboration without risking security: Creating an IT stack that lets your hybrid workforce collaborate effectively and securely from any device, anywhere.
  2. Design IT that’s flexible and efficient: Building an IT infrastructure for the hybrid workplace that can handle future disruption quickly and efficiently.
  3. Surpass employee expectations and keep productivity strong: Meeting your hybrid workforce where they are — and understanding where they’re going — to help your bottom line.

Over the next few weeks, here on the Citrix blog, we’ll look a little closer at each of these areas and point you to Fieldwork by Citrix resources that will offer a deeper dive. We hope you’ll follow along and share relevant content with your own networks.
