As platform mobile application management (MAM) continues to be adopted widely for iOS and Android, there’s never been a better time to take advantage of Citrix’s MAM SDKs. While it’s important to remember that in September 2021 our MAM SDKs will replace our MDX toolkit and MDX wrapping technology, our MAM functionality continues to live in our MAM SDKs, filling the gaps that aren’t covered by the platform.

The MAM SDKs are modular and broken into several libraries, so any app developer can consume MAM-level features into their app without having to add every feature. The libraries consist of the following:

  • Micro VPN (currently in beta) (iOS and Android): Provides in-app tunnel to on-prem resources using Citrix Gateway.
  • Compliance (iOS only): Includes jailbreak detection for iOS.
  • Local Authentication (iOS only): Includes features like Inactivity timers, biometric authentication, and authentication timers.
  • Containment (iOS only): Includes features like copy/paste and open-in restrictions.
  • Authentication (iOS and Android): Includes the ability to authenticate to Citrix Identity Platform.
  • Core (iOS and Android): Common functionality needed across libraries (logging, policy delivery, and more)

The MAM SDKs are also available for several development platforms to make it easier for developers to consume. This includes support for the following:

  • Android: Java, Cordova, Ionic, Xamarin
  • iOS: Objective-C/Swift, Cordova (planned for late 2020), Xamarin (planned for late 2020)

Getting started with our SDKs has never been easier. Start by visiting our developer portal. Here you’ll find details for each supported platform, including specifics about prerequisites, setup, and other important details to share with your application developer. Next, I encourage you to download the SDK for the specific platform your application was developed on. This will get you and your application developer familiar with the SDK structure to help with the integration process.

Finally, with our recommendation to move to platform encryption and announcement on the deprecation of MDX encryption in September 2020, we highly recommend testing and planning your move from MDX encryption to platform encryption by July 2020. Be sure to become familiar with our Encryption Management feature, which helps to make migrating to platform encryption seamless for your end-users. Check out our demo:
