The SD-WAN market continues to surprise us with the diversity of vendors. Even more off the beaten path is the variety of large companies — not in networking — that are acquiring SD-WAN companies. The latest is Oracle acquiring Talari Networks.

No one in the networking space would consider Oracle as a networking player. They are an 800 pound gorilla in applications, databases, SaaS and cloud… but not in networking. So, why take Talari off the table?

The public story is that the Cloud services offering formed through the Acme Packet Session Border Controller is now in need of SD-WAN. On the surface, Talari is a good choice. Along with our excellent SD-WAN offering, Talari seems to have a good voice implementation for resilient voice services. And that would be a valuable, targeted service indeed. We wish the Talari team the best inside Oracle.

This move also takes one more vendor out of the general SD-WAN market. A good sign of consolidation, leaving those, like Citrix SD-WAN, who have the broadest and most powerful solutions, partnerships, the go-to-market and ecosystems expected by customers who count on comprehensive SD-WAN, Workspace and security offerings to run their business.

So as you contemplate your SD-WAN choices, take a look at our Citrix SD-WAN offerings, and listen to another one bites the dust.
