The new Linux VDA 7.14 is released with XenApp and XenDesktop 7.14. This release adds support for non-NVIDIA Grid GPU and Always on tracing. In addition, there is also a new experimental capability for PDF printing.

Let’s learn more about these new enhancements:

Graphics enhancement for NVIDIA non Grid graphics card

Citrix HDX 3D Pro technology on the Linux VDA can be leveraged by customers to access their Linux graphics-intensive 3D professional applications delivered by Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop.

Citrix supports the HDX 3D Pro technology with NVIDIA Grid cards running in a vGPU or GPU pass through mode in a virtualized environment. HDX 3D Pro for Linux is optimized on NVIDIA Grid cards for the best performance for remote 3D Graphics applications.

In this new release of Linux VDA, Citrix has expanded the scope of supported GPU for running your applications in the virtualized environment, by making the HDX 3D Pro for Linux generic.

Always-On Tracing

In order to help our customers to adopt and deploy Citrix products in their environment with success, supportability is the key focus area for Citrix.

Besides troubleshooting tools, such as Linux XDPing (CTX202015) and xdlcollect (CTX202252), the always-on tracing feature is available in this release to collect critical logs and diagnose issues with less efforts.

Please refer production document to customize the logging level.

PDF printing – Experimental

PDF Printing is an experimental capability, which enables a use case with a version of Citrix Receiver that supports PDF printing such as Chrome and HTML5 receiver, customers can print PDFs converted from within Linux VDA sessions. Session print jobs are sent to the endpoint, where it can be opened by using your PDF viewer of choice, and then you can print them on your printer of choice.

This feature is suitable for the scenario of a double-hop deployment or network separation. Customers can keep high productivity when generic printing is required.

To try out these features and much more, upgrade to Linux VDA 7.14 today from the Citrix download page. Let us know how it works for you!
