SYN706: build a XenApp real-time session monitoring dashboard

SYN706

Looking for a way to see user sessions from all of your XenApp/XenDesktop sites on a single screen? With Director, you can search for a user across sites, but you can only see sessions for a single site. What if you are interested in comparing the ICA latencies of your users? With Director, you can select a single user, and view details for the session (including the latency), but you cannot see the latency for multiple sessions side-by-side.

Gateway Information

When trouble strikes, the last thing the helpdesk wants to be doing is tracking down how the user connected to the system. With multiple entry points into the system, identifying which NetScaler and StoreFront server was used to initiate a user’s session can waste precious moments. Having a tool that allows you to quickly locate the method of entry can turn helpdesk personnel into real heroes.

All of this information (and more!) is available for the asking – if you know where to look. By harnessing the might of PowerShell and the XenApp and XenDesktop SDK, let me show you how to build a tool for your helpdesk that shows the above information for all sessions. An authorized administrator can then disconnect, reset (logoff), or send a message to the user.

While some knowledge of PowerShell and the XenApp/XenDesktop SDK would be useful in understanding all of the concepts that will be presented, even the most novice user should be able to benefit from the code provided.

So, join me at Citrix Synergy 2017 for SYN706: Build a XenApp Real-Time Session Monitoring Dashboard, to learn how to give more power to your helpdesk.
