As organizations have expedited efforts to move to the cloud to support remote work, Citrix continues to help ease the migration to the cloud. With the recent release of the Citrix Automated Configuration Tool, customers have been able to simplify migration of their configuration from Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops on-premises to Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops service in the cloud. We are hearing powerful customer testimonials about migrating thousands of apps within a week and how easy it is now to migrate policies and other configurations by running two simple commands.

Customers are also discovering the added value of this tool in cloud for day-to-day operations, including syncing cloud sites for disaster recovery, test and production cloud site sync, and more. It’s also great to see customers leveraging the tool to simplify moving across regions, like moving from Citrix Cloud in the Americas to Citrix Cloud in the Asia Pacific region. Some have even started using the tool as a backup and recovery solution for policies, applications, icons, and more. As a result, if an admin makes inadvertent changes in the cloud service, they can always just revert back to the earlier state with a partial revert of the configuration.

Knowing how powerful the tool has been for customers already, I am excited to announce the general availability of our enhanced version (2.0) of the Automated Configuration Tool. We’ve heard the feedback from customers and have added more value-added features to the tool, including:

  • Merging multiple sites and avoiding name collisions: Merge multiple on-premises sites into a single cloud site while avoiding name collisions using prefixes and suffixes. Multi-site support adds unique prefixes and suffixes to component names on a per on-premises site basis, ensuring name uniqueness after multiple on-premises sites are merged to a single cloud site.
  • Site activation: Select whether your on-premises or cloud deployment controls resources such as reboot schedules and power schemes. Site activation allows you to control where the active site is controlled.
  • New version notification: Customers will conveniently receive notifications to update when using the Automated Configuration Tool if they are on the older versions so they’re encouraged to use the latest version of the tool

Other updates to Automated Configuration include:

  • The ability to migrate administrator roles and scopes.
  • A SecurityFileFolder parameter to allow placing of the CvadAcSecurity.yml file in a secure network file share that requires authentication.
  • The ability to filter by machine name in machine catalogs and delivery groups.
  • A new cmdlet (New-CvadAcZipInfoForSupport) to zip all your log files to send to Citrix for support.
  • A Quiet parameter for select cmdlets to suppress console logging.

Citrix also offers online support documentation to help you with any questions on how the tool works and how to successfully migrate to the cloud. We have several resources to help you move to the cloud with confidence:
