Audit logs — records of events in a system — are a great source of information that can help admins effectively monitor their production environment. You can use audit logs to find out who did what, when they did it and where; how the system behaved; which user, system, or application launched the event; and more.

Reviewing the logs helps admins prevent unexpected events in the production environment, comply with security policies, and analyze bugs.

A centralized network management, analytics, and orchestration solution for your Citrix ADC infrastructure, Citrix Application Delivery Management (ADM) enables you to track all events on ADM and syslog events generated on ADM-managed ADC instances. Citrix ADM is available for both on-premises and service (cloud) environments.

Reviewing Audit Log Messages

Log messages are a great source of information, but only if you review them.

The good news?

Citrix ADM makes this review simple. You can use filters to search the Citrix ADM syslog and audit log messages to narrow your results and find exactly what you’re looking for (and in real time). The built-in help option for search guides you with filtering the logs efficiently, and you can export and view log messages in PDF, CSV, PNG, and JPEG formats. You can also schedule the export of these reports to specified email addresses at various intervals.

You can review the following types of log messages from the Citrix ADM GUI:

  • ADC instance-related audit logs: Monitor and analyze all log (syslog) messages of the ADC instances managed through the ADM and take corrective action if required.
  • ADM-related audit logs: View audit log messages for all events on Citrix ADM and monitor the health of your Citrix ADM deployment.
  • Application audit logs for all ADM applications: View all audit log messages for all applications present in the Citrix ADM and understand the applications’ status.
  • Application audit logs for a specific application: View audit log messages for a specific application in the Citrix ADM and get to know the application’s status.
