Improve performance with Citrix Workspace app for Linux 1910
The Citrix Workspace app for Linux gives you flexibility in the types of devices you can uses to securely and easily access your desktops, apps, and data. Our team is excited to announce the Citrix Workspace app 1910 release. The latest update includes logon performance improvements, along with the appindicator icon and Transparent User Interface Virtual Channel (TUI VC) that will enhance the admin experience. Let’s take a look at some of the updates.
TUI VC Feature
The new TUI VC feature in the Citrix Workspace app for Linux helps the client system to receive the TUI packets sent by the server. The client can also access the UI-related components. This functionality helps you to control the display of the default overlay screen, which helps biometric and smart card logins go through by enabling the VDTUI flag in the module.ini file.
Here’s what an application launch looks like before and after the 1910 update:

Before the 1910 release

After the 1910 release
The Starting < Application > window is not visible with TUIVC enabled through the config file.
Appindicator
The appindicator is an icon that embeds in your system tray and starts when you launch the Citrix Workspace app. It will improve the Citrix Workspace app for Linux logon performance significantly. You’ll see an improvement of nearly 15 seconds in the following scenarios:
- Launch the Citrix Workspace app for the first time
- Close and relaunch the app
- Quit and relaunch the app
Improvement Fixes
We’ve also made quality-improvement fixes with this release, including:
- The Citrix Workspace app for Linux was dependent on libcurl3 for installation. We’ve removed this dependency for easier installation.
- Rendering H.264 encoded data with video decode and the presentation API for Unix (VDPAU) optimization pack didn’t always work as expected.
- When using the Citrix Workspace app for Linux versions 1906 or 1908, the sign-in page didn’t always appear when shared users signed out of their workspace. Instead, they saw the prompt “Sign in to access your Workspace.”
- When a desktop session spanned multiple monitors, the toolbar sometimes disappeared.
