As tradition will, it’s the time to reflect on the year’s accomplishments, challenges, and celebrations, and I’d like to start by personally thanking our Podio community for a lot of support, patience and growth throughout the year of 2018.

I am sure this year has brought something special for many of you — a new business, new clients, a new job, or perhaps a new family member. For me, it’s the year I moved across the Atlantic from my home base in Copenhagen, Denmark, to our US office in Raleigh, North Carolina. Citrix been more than a great place to work — it’s the place that made it possible for me to move my family across the world to explore new areas, new people and new adventures. I am very thankful for this opportunity.

I am just as thankful to see how you and the rest of our customers continue to transform the work you do, making it a better, more transparent place to be with the help of Podio workspaces and apps. Thank you for staying with us, in both good and challenging times, and thank you for continuing to grow with us into the future of work.

A Year in Review

In 2018 we announced the ambitious goal of growing the platform to reach 1 billion items. I am happy to report that we reached this goal a few weeks back, and are now the happy supporters of 1 billion items, projects, clients, tickets, and actions managed through Podio — up from 500 million total items created just two years ago. Thank you!

We also promised you a dedicated focus on reliability, security, and compliance for 2018. We have been working diligently to meet that goal — improving the underlying architecture of Podio and backend services to make it possible to support your growing business in the future. As a part of these efforts, we made sure Podio is GDPR compliant, and have significantly reduced error rates while increasing response time for the Podio Web, API and the GlobiFlow service in the last four months of the year. In total, we have performed 16 larger maintenance events of the architecture in 2018, while doing numerous updates in the backend throughout the year. These updates are not noticed in the user interface but we are confident they’ll help us secure a more reliable experience in the future.

2018 is also the year where our customers really took advantage of the unlimited workflow automation with GlobiFlow. In total, we had 700 million workflow actions triggered by GlobiFlow last year, helping our customers save time and become more productive. Here are a few examples of how some customers are taking advantage of the increased productivity: including Somera and Momentum.

A look ahead

Lastly, I want to spend a short moment looking toward exciting changes in 2019.

We have just announced updates to our Podio Free service. This will allow us to offer even more value to our paying customers as we scale. We will continue to support Podio Free for small teams and businesses; however, larger datasets above 500 items (what’s an item?), will require a paid plan starting this year. We are making these changes to deliver even better performance and improved functionality in the future.

You can stay up-to-speed on the next Podio developments by subscribing to our Product News section. In the meantime, our current focus areas include:

  • Continuing our strong commitment to reliability, security, and compliance
  • Incorporating GlobiFlow, our workflow automation engine, deeper into the Citrix infrastructure
  • Continuing to evolve our standalone solution while ensuring strong integrations with the Citrix productivity suite — so that Citrix Content Collaboration and Citrix Workspace offer the same robust file-sharing, e-signatures, and workflow features that our current customers enjoy

You can learn more about how our platform is helping shape the future of work and unleashing employee productivity in Citrix Workspace here.

While we anticipate a lot of exciting activity in the coming year, mostly, we look forward to continuing to support your business and personal work. Helping you drive even more productivity so you can focus on the things that matter most to you — your work, your family, and your next adventures — continue to be our main priority.

Thank you for being on this journey with us. Cheers to a great 2018 — and an even better 2019.
