For over a decade, the CCIA certification has represented the pinnacle of Citrix certifications. The CCEE certification, introduced in 2010, has also proven to be an incredibly valuable Citrix Certification. In fact, Global Knowledge named it one of the most valuable certifications in IT in 2014.
Citrix commits to maintaining the value of its certifications by routinely monitoring IT trends and business needs and adjusting accordingly. Sometimes this results in updating exams and certification requirements. Other times, it results in discontinuing, retiring or expiring exams and certifications to make room for newer, more relevant ones. Since the CCIA and CCEE for virtualization certifications were introduced in 2010, the IT landscape has undergone numerous material changes requiring broader skill sets. These skill sets are the focus of the new, solution-based certifications we introduced last year.
As a result, effective November 28, 2014, Citrix will be:
- Retiring the CCIA and CCEE for Virtualization certifications
- Expiring a number of already retired certifications (listed below)
Retired certifications are no longer attainable; however, retired certifications are valid until expiration. The CCIA and CCEE certifications are three-year term-based certifications, so those who hold unexpired CCIA and/or CCEE certifications will not be affected by the retirement of these certifications as they will remain valid for three years from the date attained. However, current CCIA and CCEE credential holders can easily stay current and remain highly marketable by updating to the new CCE-V or CCP-V certification. By acting now, current CCIA and CCEEs only need to pass one exam while the update paths are still available. Once the current exams associated with the virtualization certifications are discontinued, the update paths will expire and CCIAs and CCEEs will be required to take and pass multiple exams in order to attain CCP-V or CCE-V status.
In addition to the CCIA and CCEE, nine other Citrix certifications will also be expiring. Individuals holding any one of the listed expiring certifications have the option to update to a newer certification per the recommendations below.
