Secure access is changing fast. More work happens in SaaS and private web apps, and more users connect from unmanaged devices, partner networks, and mixed environments. At the same time, many organizations are actively reducing reliance on traditional VPNs but need a practical path that supports legacy requirements while moving to a Zero Trust model. The great news is that Citrix Secure Private Access (SPA) offers both!
That’s why we’re expanding what Citrix Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud (UHMC) customers can do with Citrix Secure Private Access.
What’s new for UHMC customers
UHMC customers now have full access to Citrix Secure Private Access functionality.
Previously, UHMC limited SPA for Windows 365 use cases. This update expands entitlement to cover broader Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) and VPN replacement use cases beyond the original Windows 365 scenarios.
There’s no action required by UHMC customers; it’s available immediately within your entitlement.
Why this matters
ZTNA is the modern model for secure access: it enables application-level, least-privilege access and helps reduce the blast radius compared to broad network access.
But we also recognize that real-world environments aren’t rebuilt overnight. Some applications and workflows still require VPN-style connectivity while teams modernize. With this UHMC entitlement update, customers can take a ZTNA-first approach while continuing to support VPN and VPN-replacement use cases as part of a phased transition away from traditional VPNs.
What this unlocks
With expanded SPA entitlement under UHMC, customers can:
- Extend ZTNA-style access to private apps (app-level access instead of broad network-level exposure)
- Support contractors and partners with more granular and controlled access patterns
- Apply a consistent approach across hybrid deployments, including on-premises data paths and cloud-hosted services
- Reduce VPN dependence over time while maintaining continuity for legacy requirements
