This is a guest blog post by Mike Demunter, CEO, and Bavo De Cooman, Content Creator, of Quivvy Podio Consulting and QuivvyTools Extensions for Podio.

Since 2013, Quivvy has helped businesses of all types and sizes build their own digital ecosystem in Citrix Podio. Podio’s incredible flexibility and powerful workflow automation (PWA) have enabled us to create systems that fully match our users’ business processes and that are designed to evolve with their needs.

Increasingly Complex Podio Architectures

Adapting these Podio systems to evolving business processes is a key part of our work. Podio’s versatility allows us to easily integrate and optimize processes and workflow automations (previously known as GlobiFlow).

At the same time, however, the architecture of workspaces, apps, and automations gradually becomes more and more complex. Each new customization can hold the risk of breaking something in your structure, with customer complaints as a potential (and unwelcome) side effect.

Future-Proofing Podio Systems

When addressing such complex issues in our clients’ Podio systems, we used to spend a lot of time just locating the problem. To facilitate this constant process of optimization and reviewing, we needed better insight into how everything was connected, which is vital to keeping your Podio system healthy as it grows and evolves.

That’s why we developed QuivvyTools Architecture 360°, a tool to unravel the architecture of the Podio setups we were working with and automatically highlight broken dependencies. It proved so helpful to us that we decided to share it with the Podio community and release it as a Podio extension.

QuivvyTools Architecture 360°: At a Glance

  1. Visualize how everything is connected
  2. Impact verification of structural changes
  3. Automatic reporting of potential problems
  4. Revision history: See who changed what, where, and when
  5. Extended Podio search functionality
  6. Chrome extension for seamless integration within Podio and PWA

Multiple Visualizations

QuivvyTools visualizes all dependencies in a more intuitive way, with color coding added to every level, for faster visual recognition as you navigate through your Podio structure.

Based on user feedback, we also added a diagram visualization, which you can navigate and reorder for even more clarity.

Debugging and Optimization

When you navigate your structure in QuivvyTools, potential issues will be indicated so you can see problems you didn’t even know you had.

But rather than fixing bugs, the greatest opportunity lies in preventing them. You can use QuivvyTools to inspect dependencies before you delete a field,  move an app, tweak a workflow automation, or check for opportunities to further optimize your structure.

See Who Changed What, When, and Where

QuivvyTools also tracks changes in your structure. For example, if someone accidentally changes a complex calculation field while modifying the app template, you can use QuivvyTools to check what happened and who made the change and then restore the broken calculation field content.

Enhanced Podio Search

QuivvyTools adds some useful enhancements to Podio’s powerful search functionality. It shows developer metadata and lets you search for anything within PWA. For example, you can check if any automations are still connected to a former employee’s email address.

Seamless Integration Within Podio

Our Chrome extension integrates QuivvyTools’ functionality in Podio, including Podio workflow automation. Once installed, a QuivvyTools icon will tell you everything you need to know to get the insights you need or take action directly from the right context.

What started out as a tool to monitor and debug Podio setups, grew into a valuable tool for maintaining and optimizing complex Podio systems. QuivvyTools’ great user community played an important part — some of their suggestions were the inspiration for new cornerstone features.
