If there is one principle a product should adhere to, it ought to be “keep it simple.” This has guided us over the last few releases of Citrix Workspace app. While we continue to improve the end-user experience with our solutions, we realize that it’s equally important to simplify manageability for administrators. That’s why we are pleased to announce the latest update of Citrix Workspace app for Windows. This update primarily focuses on simplifying admin manageability. Let’s take a look at what’s new with the Citrix Workspace app 2012 for Windows.

If your Citrix Workspace app isn’t functioning as expected, either due to a configuration error or a bug, admins or Citrix tech support need to collect Workspace app logs. Previously, a separate diagnostic tool was required to collect logs. Now, with this release, log collection is simple and built into the Workspace app.

Below is a screen capture of the log collection dialog box built inside the Citrix Workspace app:

To get to the screen above, you simply navigate to the advanced preferences menu and click on Log collection. Click on the Start collecting logs button and reproduce the issue. You can save and share the logs once you have successfully reproduced the issue. You don’t need to play around with logging utilities and registry keys anymore; your log collection within Citrix Workspace app is now just a few clicks away. Take a look at this support article for detailed steps on performing log collection.

Additionally, domain pass through (also referred to as single sign-on) simplifies authentication on domain-joined machines and has been incredibly beneficial to organizations and their users. This feature authenticates users to Citrix Workspace or Citrix StoreFront directly when they sign in to their Windows domain-joined machine. We are now extending this capability to Citrix Workspace when credentials are managed using Active Directory.

We have also been delighted with the interest that admins have shown for app protection. App protection is an add-on feature for Citrix Workspace app that provides enhanced security in the form of anti-screen capture and anti-keylogging policies. We have seen that administrators prefer granular control and choice regarding parts of the app that should be protected. This release introduces additional group policy settings and enable admins to selectively configure the feature for the authentication screen and Citrix Workspace app user interface (self-service).

Lastly, no Citrix Workspace app update is complete without enhancements to the Microsoft Teams Optimization capabilities. Peers can now see the presenter’s mouse pointer in a screen sharing session. Further, the WebRTC media engine now honors the proxy server configured on the client machine.

We are certain this update will simplify various aspects of the Citrix Workspace app from a manageability standpoint.
