A hospital. A medical clinic. An emergency room. We’ve all been there. For most of us, it’s been as a patient. For many, it’s been more than just a get-well visit.

While patient care remains human-centric, it has also become incredibly high tech. Those advances aren’t limited to cutting-edge medical treatments and procedures. They include medical apps and electronic health records (EHR) that medical personnel must maintain and access to provide the care that, at times, can mean the difference between life or death. Citrix has been on the front lines of health care technology for many, many years.

With so much patient information being stored and accessed digitally, there’s a delicate balance around keeping it secure, while providing an easy, intuitive, and efficient user experience for doctors, nurses, and caregivers. That’s where Citrix excels!

I’m excited to share our technology with you in our healthcare demo video series.

A couple of the videos in this series really hit home for me, like Citrix End-User Experience for Healthcare (below). Imagine this. You or a loved one is receiving treatment. The doctor comes by on rounds, and they have the latest test results. You want to see the images and results with your own eyes, but it’s too difficult for the doctor to pull it up on the device in the room. Or the screen is too small.

I can relate to this. A few years ago I had to make some important decisions for my mother, who was in the intensive care unit. I reviewed a sonogram with the doctor on a less than optimal small screen. What if the room would’ve been equipped with a Citrix Ready Workspace hub? The doctor could’ve cast the images to a big screen for me to view. I’m happy to say my mother is doing well, but HDX casting technology could’ve made things a lot easier in an already stressful situation.

Then there’s Choose Your Cloud Environment. In this video we show how ANY device can be used securely on the front lines of patient care. Even a tablet or a Chromebook can be used to access medical apps or share medical records. And it’s secure. Nothing ends up on the endpoint. And if the device is lost, the patient information is not at risk.

While I personally am proud of all the videos, the Distributed Healthcare Landscape, almost seems like a day in my life. I live in rural Missouri, where connectivity is far from ideal. In my travels as a Citrix Distinguished Sales Engineer, I’ve talked to healthcare IT staffers from as far away as Alaska. Whether it’s Missouri, Alaska, or anywhere else on the planet, instant, secure access to critical medical information is often at the mercy of the network connection.

Citrix SD-WAN can provide robust, secure, resilient access, even in areas where access to WAN connections isn’t optimal. Our technology accomplishes this “fatter pipe” experience by bonding together multiple network providers and by setting policies to steer traffic to the most optimal path. In this video I show you how we can leverage our SD-WAN technology, which is already available in Microsoft Azure and Google GCP, at the front-line clinical location.

For those of you on the front lines of patient care, I applaud you. You are truly unsung heroes. I know I’m not the only one at Citrix who feels this way. It is our hope that this video series showcases just some of the technology we have available for you. We are pleased to be the technology vendor of choice for many of the largest health care organizations, enabling workspace transformation for those who are committed to saving lives and keeping us healthy.
