Expanding Citrix SecurSpaces for secure AI work across the enterprise

AI is moving from conversational assistants to autonomous agents that can access enterprise information, use tools, and execute complex tasks. For organizations, the challenge is making those capabilities available at scale while maintaining security, control, and governance.

That’s why we’re expanding Citrix SecurSpaces. Originally designed to deliver secure cloud development environments, SecurSpaces now enables organizations to provision, secure, and govern AI-powered workspaces for more employees, applications, and autonomous agent workloads.

SecurSpaces provides a centrally governed, isolated execution environment where employees and AI agents can securely interact with corporate information, applications, AI models, and services.

Extending secure AI execution beyond developers

SecurSpaces now supports a broader range of enterprise personas and use cases:

Software developers can deploy one or multiple AI agents to write, test, modernize, and maintain software within a controlled development environment and parallelize their workflow,
AI engineers can connect private AI models, enterprise data, and tools, while knowledge workers can securely leverage corporate AI agents, automate business processes, and more.
Organizations can use SecurSpaces as a secure and governed execution layer for long running tasks with managed agents from popular agent-as-a-service providers.

With centralized provisioning and management, organizations can make these capabilities available to employees across departments without requiring each team to build and secure its own agent infrastructure.

Built on the Citrix Platform

SecurSpaces brings together established Citrix security, access and infrastructure technologies into a unified execution environment.

Citrix SecurAccess ZTNA provides zero-trust connectivity to private applications and enterprise services. Citrix SecurAccess with Chrome Enterprise delivers browser security, data loss prevention and policy enforcement, while Citrix NetScaler AI Gateway provides controlled access to AI models across multiple providers, together with visibility into AI consumption.

Within Citrix SecurSpaces, agents execute inside isolated environments with access to a restricted filesystem and only the resources required for their tasks. Credential protection mechanisms keep sensitive application session tokens outside the agent's execution environment.

A centralized control plane allows IT and security teams to manage workspace policies, resource access and execution environments while gaining visibility into agent activity, AI consumption, security events and enterprise adoption.

This integrated architecture gives enterprises a consistent foundation to introduce agentic AI while retaining control over their corporate resources.

Enabling private execution of autonomous AI workloads

Beyond interactive AI assistants, SecurSpaces provides a foundation for autonomous agents capable of executing complex, long-running workloads that require access to enterprise development tools, applications and infrastructure.

As part of an ongoing collaboration with a popular managed agent provider, Citrix is exploring how managed Claude agent workflows can leverage SecurSpaces as their private execution environment.

One example is autonomous software modernization, where AI agents perform complex code migrations involving source-code analysis, modifications, builds, tests and repeated validation cycles.

By combining the autonomous capabilities of managed AI agents with enterprise-controlled execution environments, SecurSpaces enables organizations to retain control over the tools, dependencies and data used by agents, while establishing verifiable evidence of what was executed, built and tested.

This approach extends to other enterprise automation scenarios requiring powerful AI agents to operate securely within corporate infrastructure.

SecurSpaces is designed to address three requirements of enterprise-scale AI adoption:

Security by design: Isolated execution, restricted resource access, protected credentials and integration with enterprise security policies.
Broad adoption: Simplified provisioning and a consistent AI execution environment make advanced agent capabilities accessible to developers, AI engineers and knowledge workers.
Centralized governance and observability: Organizations gain visibility into usage, security, agent activity and token consumption, enabling better operational governance and AI cost management

Flexible adoption on your terms

Citrix SecurSpaces offers two deployment models to accommodate different enterprise infrastructure strategies and operational requirements.

Organizations can deploy SecurSpaces self-hosted, maintaining direct control over their infrastructure, execution environments, and integration with existing enterprise systems. SecurSpaces as a self-hosted solution is available as part of the Citrix Platform License and Citrix Platform Flex. Alternatively, they can adopt SecurSpaces Flex through Citrix Platform Credits, simplifying provisioning and deployment through a cloud-based offering designed to accelerate enterprise adoption.

We’re also introducing a free SecurSpaces Community Edition, allowing organizations and individual teams to experiment with the platform, explore agentic AI use cases, and validate its benefits with a limited number of users.

Together, these options provide a flexible path from initial experimentation to enterprise-wide deployment, allowing organizations to adopt secure agentic execution at their own pace.

Knowledge Worker Agent for Citrix SecurSpaces

To help accelerate this expansion, we’re releasing an open source Knowledge Worker Agent for Citrix SecurSpaces, i.e. the very agent used today at Citrix for non-development work. The agent supports work involving internal documents, applications, and corporate information within a controlled environment where organizations define which resources it can access.

As AI agents take on more work, enterprises need a trusted environment where those agents can operate safely, with access to the right corporate resources and consistent governance. With SecurSpaces, we’re making agentic AI accessible across the organization while keeping the enterprise in control.
