Over the past year, Citrix has recommitted to delivering workload flexibility, so you can choose whichever cloud providers or software vendors work best for your business. If you want to learn more about workload and device flexibility, you can read our blog about all the improvements we have made. We’re committed to investing in expanding Citrix cloud functionality and building new tools to meet the needs of your business.

We recently announced one of the biggest innovations in our partnership with AWS, Citrix DaaS for Amazon WorkSpaces Core. Today we are thrilled to announce that this capability is now in public tech preview! Let’s take a closer look at what this partnership means for you and how you can get the most out of your AWS deployments with Citrix technologies.

What is Amazon WorkSpaces Core?

Amazon WorkSpaces Core is a managed virtual desktop infrastructure designed to work with third-party VDI solutions such as Citrix DaaS. It is the compute layer of AWS workloads that the Citrix DaaS control plane can help orchestrate and manage to help deliver HDX optimized apps anywhere. Together, Amazon WorkSpaces Core and Citrix improve cost savings, simplify cloud management, and deliver superior user experiences. Take a closer look at the announcement on the AWS blog here.

The screenshot below showcases where to deploy Amazon WorkSpaces Core inside of the Citrix console:

Amazon WorkSpaces Core is another resource location option that you can leverage in your Citrix environment alongside Amazon EC2 resources and your on-premises resources. The sections below outline the value that Citrix brings to Amazon WorkSpaces Core.

Cost-saving tools

Citrix comes with a variety of tools to help you make the most of your on-premises and cloud investments. This includes Autoscale and Workspace Environment Management, which can help you get the most compute resources for the lowest possible cost. Once you add Citrix to Amazon WorkSpaces Core, you’ll have even more tools to help you save.

Citrix DaaS on Amazon WorkSpaces Core offers flexible billing options no matter what your situation is. This includes both flat rate and pay-as-you-go options so you can choose the most cost-effective option for your business. We’ve also included tools to help admins review usage and check billing details.

Simple cloud management

Citrix lets you manage your on-premises infrastructure and cloud workloads however you want to. Admins can manage on-premises Citrix workloads alongside Amazon WorkSpaces Core for true hybrid and multi-cloud deployments. For companies working on their transition to the cloud, Citrix and AWS give admins the flexibility to move to the cloud at their own speed and keep any sensitive resources on premises as needed. Together, Amazon WorkSpaces Core and Citrix create improved scalability with enterprise-grade cloud management and lower maintenance requirements.

Lower cloud maintenance requirements aren’t the only way that Citrix and AWS reduce the burden on IT. The Citrix management console can optimize VMs depending on user workloads, which takes the guesswork out of cloud desktops to make sure the right amount of VMs are available at the right time. Automatic Windows updates for AWS WorkSpaces Core instances coupled with VDA Upgrade Service from Citrix simplify the upgrades of these workloads. With a simplified five-step deployment for desktop provisioning, it’s faster and easier than ever to get started and maintain Citrix on Amazon WorkSpaces Core.

Citrix has proprietary high-definition HDX technology that delivers high-quality voice, video, multimedia, and 3D graphics applications even over low bandwidth. HDX technology makes cloud-hosted virtual applications and desktops perform as if they were installed locally on the user’s device, for seamless experiences. For industries like healthcare and finance, this means high-quality medical images and modeling images no matter what kind of device is used or where the user is located. By delivering high-performing virtual desktops anywhere, Citrix and AWS help you support hybrid workforces with access to fully functional Windows desktops.

Better together: Citrix and Amazon WorkSpaces Core

Citrix and Amazon WorkSpaces Core together deliver a simpler, cost-effective, and high-quality virtual desktop solution. We’re not going to stop here either, we’re going to keep working with our partners at AWS to deliver the solutions and flexibility you need to deliver apps and desktops anywhere.
