Forrester Consulting interviewed more than 30 IT senior representatives from Citrix and Microsoft joint customers to build a composite organization that spanned company size, geography, and industry. In addition to a hefty return on investment (ROI) of 153 percent and net present value (NPV) of $4.05 million, organizations reported substantial business benefits.

The interviewed organizations said they were able to reduce help desk costs, improve agility, speed up employee onboarding, reduce overall IT desktop management resource needs, avoid significant software and hardware costs, and provide employees with a more effective and productive application and desktop experience. The customers were ultimately able to achieve far more, while also typically paying less, compared to legacy on-premises solutions or no VDI solution at all.
