Citrix is excited to announce a new migration tool for Citrix Application Delivery Management (ADM), which enables customers migrate their entire Citrix ADC and application configuration from Citrix ADM on-prem instances to Citrix ADM service. The tool is available to Citrix ADM customers on deployment versions 13.0.52.24 onward.

You can leverage this new migration tool to migrate to the cloud-based Citrix ADM service, making it easier to manage, monitor, and troubleshoot your entire global application delivery infrastructure across hybrid, multi-cloud from a single, unified, centralized console.

Three Steps for Migration

The tool makes migration a simple three-step process.

  1. Log in to citrix.cloud.com. Download the client secret CSV from Citrix Cloud and copy it to /var directory of your ADM on-prem deployment. Learn more here.
  2. Access the migration script. Learn more here.
  3. Run the migration script.

With an intuitive CLI and detailed error logging, the migration tool reduces the effort you spend on migrating your Citrix ADC infrastructure from Citrix ADM on-prem instances to Citrix ADM service.

Save Time for Your Teams

As an admin, you’ve probably created several entities, many rules, and numerous settings in your Citrix ADM on-prem set up. Manually recreating them in Citrix ADM service is an inefficient use of an admin’s crucial time, which is better spent on business-critical tasks. The migration tool takes the hassle out of the transfer by migrating:

  • Events: Rules and settings
  • Instances: Profiles, tags, instance groups, and instances
  • Settings: Analytics settings, notification settings, data-pruning settings, sites, IP blocks, network reporting
  • ADM licensing: Virtual server licensing
  • RBAC: Groups, roles, and policies
  • Analytics & App Dashboard: Custom apps, analytics settings and thresholds, analytics/appflow configuration
  • ADM configuration on ADC: SNMP, syslog, and analytics app flow
  • Pooled licensing: ADM service agent is new licensing server

When you use the migration tool to migrate to Citrix ADM service, you join the many customers who benefit from all that Citrix ADM service provides, while at the same time optimizing your app delivery.

Why Migrate?

Citrix ADM service is a cloud-delivered ADC control plane and application analytics solution that offers advantages over on-prem deployments of Citrix ADM. These are just a few of the benefits Citrix customers realize by optimizing their app delivery with Citrix ADM service:

  • New features, faster – New features are added approximately every two weeks.
  • Reduced operating costs with respect to traditional on-prem ADM deployments.
  • Easier management – There is no HA set up, no disaster recovery, and no upgrades required.
  • Unified management of ADC infrastructure across hybrid multi cloud – On-prem datacenter and private and public clouds
  • More advanced insight – Machine-learning-based analytics delivered from the cloud

Additionally, Citrix ADM service provides supplemental functionality for optimizing your application delivery, including advanced use cases that use machine learning (ML) models to find trends and anomalies. (Learn more about ML in Citrix ADM service.) These enterprise-scale ML models are continuously delivered and optimized over the cloud infrastructure of Citrix ADM service.

Customers migrating the management of the application delivery infrastructure and the analysis of application telemetry to Citrix ADM service can leverage powerful new features around application performance, security, and usage.

Now is the Best Time to Move to Citrix ADM Service

Application delivery in the post-pandemic world is rife with challenges. Citrix retains a razor-sharp focus on streamlining app delivery with new use cases focused on app performance, security, and usage. Recent uses cases we’ve added to Citrix ADM service include:

  • Complete SSL certificate lifecycle management with Venafi: Leverage the integration of Citrix ADM service with Venafi to automate complete SSL certificate lifecycle management, including certificate renewals, preventing critical certificate outages from affecting applications.
  • Security advisory: Track common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVEs) that might put your Citrix ADC instances at risk and take recommended actions to mitigate and remediate.
  • Upgrade advisory: Identify ADC instances reaching/reached end of life or end of maintenance, as well as ADC instances on older builds.
  • App response time anomaly detection: Pinpoint the exact root cause of app slowness —  client network, server network, and server processing time — and take actions to remediate.
  • App security ML-based detections: Use the power of machine learning to prevent behavior-based attacks like account takeover, website scanning, content scraping, unusually high uploads and downloads, and much more.

Modern day app delivery demands an advanced solution like Citrix ADM service, and our new migration tool makes it easy to move your existing Citrix ADM on-prem configurations to Citrix ADM service. Get started today by logging into your Citrix Cloud account, and learn more about Citrix ADM service.
