Today, I am extremely excited to announce the general availability of Citrix Secure Internet Access. This new addition to the Citrix portfolio is a comprehensive, cloud-delivered security service that helps businesses protect users from internet threats and enforce compliance and DLP policies while accessing cloud and SaaS applications. It strengthens our Citrix Workspace security offering by complementing zero trust network access and remote browser isolation capabilities. Together with Citrix SD-WAN, we offer a fully unified approach to SASE for our valued customers. This provides secure, consistent, and reliable access to all applications, anywhere and from any device.

As businesses start to think about returning to the office, it is clear that some of the workforce will remain remote while the rest will split their time between the office and home. This unpredictable new normal is challenging IT to rethink existing security architectures and identify new, flexible and cost-effective ways to protect the hybrid workforce.

Before you can identify a solution, you need to identify the problem you are trying to solve. In my discussions with customers interested in deploying Citrix Secure Internet Access, the top three use cases I consistently hear about are:

  • Securing all users and devices wherever they are with uniform policy. Remote workers at home or mobile workers such as sales and health workers, must be consistently secured with uniform enforcement of policy. Regardless of the physical location of the worker, the device being used, or if they are using a virtualized or native desktop environment, maintaining security policy and providing contextual access can be challenging.
  • Securing direct internet access (DIA) to improve application experience. Traditional hub-and-spoke network architectures host security stacks in the data center to protect internet access. For remote users using VPN or branch users accessing the internet and SaaS applications, backhauling traffic through the datacenter adds latency, impacting the user experience and reducing productivity. Enabling direct access at the remote site is the solution, but lack of security is the main reason most businesses are hesitant to go direct to the internet, slowing down migration to the cloud.
  • Consolidating security “point products” and moving them to the cloud to reduce cost and increase agility. Businesses have added security devices over the years to solve different problems, which has created appliance sprawl that is becoming more difficult to keep updated or scale up and down. As more SaaS apps are deployed across multiple clouds and workers become more distributed, businesses need comprehensive security that it is easy to deploy, manage and scale.

Citrix Secure Internet Access addresses all these pain points and much more. This blog post provides more details about Citrix Secure Internet Access and how it fits into the Citrix unified approach to SASE. SASE offers a glimpse into the future of how digital workspaces, networking, and security will converge to protect workers wherever they are, with the highest performance and reliability.

As IT teams consider these different technologies, having a trusted partner like Citrix makes it easier for businesses to deploy, integrate, and support a SASE architecture, starting with Citrix Secure Internet Access.
