Logicalis Australia enables Peninsula Health to Scale Up Remote Operations from On-Prem to Azure in 2 Weeks

Onboarded 1,000 back-office staff to a secure and remote Telehealth solution within two weeks of a mandated shutdown.

Overview

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Peninsula Health needed to digitally transform their facilities across the Mornington Peninsula region and quickly move from an existing ‘on-prem’ infrastructure to a fully remote telehealth environment to securely support their patients, staff and IT infrastructure.

Partnering with Citrix’s Platinum Partner Logicalis Australia, Peninsula Health revisited the current and familiar Citrix Workspace foundation to scale and support the soon-to-be remote staff.

Challenge

Peninsula Health had several challenges to overcome in a short period of time:

  • Support and scale a large, distributed workforce currently working in an on-prem environment.
  • Secure all patient data, without any breaches of security and all protocols being adhered to, while the back-office staff worked remotely.
  • Successfully deploy a product-ready Cloud platform to support 1,000 staff in two weeks.
  • Continue to respond to the rapidly increasing demand for telehealth services during lockdown.

The Solution

Logicalis Australia established a business continuity platform solution based on Citrix Cloud on Azure. By migrating the Citrix solution to Logicalis’ own production-ready Azure cloud platform, Logicalis Australia was able to seamlessly connect Peninsula Health’s cloud environment to the clinical grade network which the Department of Health and Human Services was rolling out to all health agencies.

This solution not only allowed Peninsula Health to become a virtual workspace, but it also enabled them to deliver new-age telehealth solutions where their patients and doctors could connect digitally.

This solution has extended capabilities to patient services where patients can now take advantage of video visits with care providers. By introducing Peninsula Health to the telehealth space, Logicalis Australia has helped their patients and staff save time on commuting, build better patient to doctor relationships and have a better supported work experience.

On June 23, the remote telehealth solution will be rolled out to all 6,500 staff members in three phases bringing Peninsula Health completely to the digital realm.
