Automotive IT News: Avoiding Data Overload with Self-Driving Cars

Jim Motavalli with Automotive IT News published an article on self-driving cars and the mass amounts of data produced, titled, “Avoiding Data Overload with Self-Driving Cars.” The article included insight from Chris Fleck, vice president of emerging solutions at Citrix, on how much data cars produce and how Octoblu relates to self-driving cars. Chris shares an example of how his own Tesla Model S uses Octoblu technology. Thanks to IoT, his car is capable of sending a text saying “charge me up!” when its battery is below 50 percent charge. Fleck believes that data solutions for tomorrow’s self-driving cars will involve being selective, for example, temperature sensors don’t have to retain data if the weather holds steady.
