Simplify XenApp/XenDesktop Image Management with Application Layering and Enable Easy Expansion to More Apps & Users

What you will learn

This session will provide a deep-dive into application layering, the new “install-free” way to manage and deliver applications using virtual disk containers. You’ll hear why Gartner recommends layering as the best way to manage apps in traditional server-based computing and newer VDI environments. You’ll learn how app layering can eliminate image management inefficiencies for both XenApp and XenDesktop, and how layering technologies from different vendors stack up. Finally, you’ll see a live demo of Unidesk, the pioneer and leader in app layering. Unidesk enables IT to build images out of the same reusable layers and deliver the images through integration with Citrix Provisioning Services, so you’re only patching once every month instead of once for every silo and vDisk. A sneak preview of Unidesk’s new Elastic Layering capability will also be shown. This new technology “hot-adds” apps at logon based on AD user and group membership to running XenDesktop VMs and even XenApp sessions. For the first time, XenApp users can have their own unique apps and personalization for a persistent VDI-like user experience!

CTP and CUGC member Theresa Miller will moderate the discustion. Presentation will include Q&A from participants.
