Receiver 13.4 for Linux

Release Date: Aug 29, 2016

Receiver for Linux enables users to access virtual desktops and hosted applications delivered by XenDesktop and XenApp from devices running the Linux operating system. Receiver for Linux is available in English, German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Russian.

New Features in this Release

  • Desktop Viewer Toolbar
  • Support for Relative Mouse and Absolute Mouse modes
  • Credential insertion SDK (CISDK) for proximity card and thin client OEM integration
  • SecMaker CID supported
  • Selective H264 supported
    • Those who use SoC SDK may be required to update the H264 optimization.
  • Improvements to the authentication dialogs
    • Receiver for Linux now allows the title of its authentication dialogs to be changed by a HTTP response header with the name X-Citrix-AM-Title. A user can more easily tell what their logging onto.
  • Enhanced FTU experience particularly when using SMS authentication
    • For more information, see http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX205892.
  • Enhanced default smart card support
    • When connecting to a StoreFront server that allows smart card authentication, if no value has been set for “PKCS11module” in the $ICAROOT/config/AuthManConfig.xml configuration file, Receiver now uses the opensc-pkcs11.so driver if it finds it in one of the standard locations. This means that it may prompt for you to insert a reader or card without any change to AuthManConfig.xml. If you do not wish to use a smart card, select the “Log on with another method” link.
  • As part of the continuing work to improve security, Receiver for Linux now uses version 1.0.1t of OpenSSL for TLS connections

Selecting the appropriate package

The difference between packages that offer support for Web Receiver and those that support self-service is that the latter packages include dependencies required for self-service in addition to those needed for the Web Receiver. Dependencies for self-service are a superset of those required for Web Receiver, but the files installed are identical.

If you only require Web Receiver support, or your distribution doesn’t have the necessary packages to support self-service then install the Web Receiver only package.

If your distribution allows, install Receiver from the Debian package or RPM package. These files are generally easier to use because they automatically install any required packages. If you want to control the installation location, install Receiver from the tarball package.
