The Imperial Palace
The current Imperial Palace is located on the former site of Edo Castle, a large park surrounded by moats and massive stone walls in the center of Tokyo, a short walk from Tokyo Station. It is the residence of Japan’s Imperial Family and a popular Tokyo tourist destination.
This tallest freestanding tower in the world rises to a height of 634m over the Sumida-ku skyline. While its main function is as a broadcasting tower, the Tokyo Skytree is also one of the capital’s go-to tourist destinations. The area around its base provides a home to Tokyo Skytree Town, a complex boasting 310 shops and restaurants.
Akihabara, also called Akiba, is a district in central Tokyo that is famous for its many electronics shops. In more recent years, Akihabara has gained recognition as the center of Japan’s otaku culture, and many shops and establishments devoted to anime and manga are now dispersed among the electronic stores in the district.
The Roppongi District of Tokyo’s Minato Ward is famous for its nightlife. Featuring Roppongi Hills, a massive shopping and dining complex, foreigners especially love to visit this area.
