SSI, a Citrix Solution Advisor and Citrix Service Provider, is a leading provider of enterprise level technology, hosting, management and support solutions in the Philadelphia Tri-State area. The company provides hosted business apps and desktops for the small business market through its MySecureCloud line of service, while its Aquipt division offers MatterPoint, an e-discovery platform, for law firms, corporate legal departments and litigation service providers.
As SSI evolved its business from sales and consulting into full-fledged managed services, the company needed a platform to build, deliver and manage the cloud solutions its customers required. SSI’s new business required capabilities such as the ability to push apps to mobile devices, provide assisted self-service for clients, allow customers to manage their own solutions, and automate the management, metering and billing of its services. “We saw that the combination of Appcara and Citrix technologies could support every part of our plan, including the delivery of traditional enterprise apps, web apps, mobile apps and industry solutions, through a single, integrated environment,” says Rich Wein, CEO of SSI.
Citrix CloudPlatform provides a flexible, open foundation for SSI’s cloud services business. Citrix CloudPortal Services Manager helps the company manage its delivery of cloud services, including hosted desktops and apps powered by Citrix XenDesktop and Citrix XenApp. Citrix CloudPortal Business Manager provides automation and management for the operational and commercial aspects of SSI’s cloud business. Citrix XenMobile provides device-level security to support full user mobility and BYOD. Citrix NetScaler enables secure access control. Citrix XenServer lets SSI consolidate and transform compute resources into virtual workloads delivered via the cloud. The Citrix stack is complemented by the Appcara AppStack platform, which streamlines and accelerates the packaging, deployment and management of enterprise cloud applications. Appcara’s AppStack is a Citrix Ready verified cloud application automation and migration platform that is integrated with CloudPlatform and CloudPortal Business Manager.
SSI can provide customers of its products MySecureCloud and MatterPoint with solutions tailored to their needs. The company leverages AppStack with an array of Citrix cloud solutions to securely deliver select Windows and web apps or complete hosted desktops on any device, anywhere. CloudPortal Services Manager lets the company meet the needs of customers who prefer to maintain direct control over their own services. SSI customers who use ShareFile can manage their data alongside their virtualized apps within the same integrated environment. By providing cost-effective cloud services that match the performance and functionality of on-premise technologies, SSI delivers cost savings that help drive competitive advantage. “One MatterPoint customer reduced its labor costs by nearly two-thirds, saved more than $1 million in annual operating costs, and eliminated the need for millions more in infrastructure,” says Wein. “Our Citrix platform with AppStack made that possible.”
Legal organizations can scale their MatterPoint services quickly to support unpredictable e-discovery data and processing requirements, and can meter their own service consumption to pass costs through to their clients—a key industry need. Customers can also choose to move e-discovery to the cloud while keeping email, time and billing, and other systems in-house to take a staged approach to the cloud. With AppStack’s multi-cloud capabilities, if a firm serving a public sector client needs to host its workloads in a government-approved facility, SSI can shift its XenApp app delivery to Amazon GovCloud easily with the same level of reliability and performance.
“As the leader in the cloud technology space, Citrix is the only company that can provide all the capabilities we need to grow and expand our business, all made to work together, so we can get to market more quickly and easily without having to chase multiple vendors,” says Wein. This helps the company compete effectively for larger customers. “Now that we’re no longer dealing with piecemeal technologies, we can win and serve customers with 500+ users for the first time. We’ve handled 50 percent growth in our cloud services business over the past year without adding headcount and it’s not stressing our organization. AppStack will further accelerate our ability to deliver applications into cloud environments for our customers.”
“We couldn't run our cloud business without the automation, scalability and reliability provided by the power of the Citrix platform and AppStack” says Wein. “The combined solution aligns perfectly with our current business and future direction. It’s a highly successful partnership."
