London-based Nasstar provides a simple cloud subscription service that eliminates the need for locally installed IT. The company partners with value added resellers (VARs) and managed service providers (MSPs) who implement the service under their own brand.
Already well established in the hosted desktop market, Nasstar wanted to expand its business to capitalize on fast-growing IT trends such as cloud services, mobile computing, bring-your-own-device (BYOD) and consumerization. To do so, the company decided to complement its direct customer relationships with additional channel partners and to adopt a business model that included subscription-based pricing.
Citrix provided Nasstar with a complete platform to support its cloud services business. By joining the Citrix Service Provider program, Nasstar gained the ability to deliver Citrix virtualization solutions, including hosted desktops and applications, to customers on a subscription basis with no upfront commitments or minimum fees. By using Citrix XenApp and Citrix Receiver to deliver desktops, apps and e-mail by subscription, Nasstar can now offer its customers a simple, cost-effective approach to IT to support their business.
Says Charles Black, CEO of Nasstar, “Given our guiding principle to provide the best possible user experience, we knew that we needed to go with Citrix. It meant that we could provide the user with additional security and speed, and increased flexibility on their choice of computing device. It’s the best of all worlds.”
“Companies doing mergers and acquisitions want standardization of user experience, centralized control over user access and better security in general—and they depend on rapid implementation,” says Smith. “We can bring people onto our Citrix-powered cloud services platform in hours if necessary; full migration takes weeks instead of months.” At the same time, the Nasstar solution eliminates the cost of constant endpoint upgrades as well as the need for a large IT department, making it affordable for any organization.
The Citrix Service Provider program has helped Nasstar attract new partners, increasing the company’s market reach. “It’s not just a supplier-customer relationship; we’re very pleased with the additional support we receive from Citrix,” says Smith. “We exchange ideas, best practices and use cases. It’s a proper partnership.”
“By hosting our service on the Citrix platform, we can empower people to choose the best time, place and device for their work,” says Black. “It’s a very good, long-term, stable proposition to partner with Citrix. It fulfills our mission to deliver desktops, files and applications from the cloud, arming subscribers with smooth, easy access to a real alternative to traditional on-premises computing.”
