The company’s most recent expansion into western Canada brought into focus a need to consolidate and unify its access strategy for remote connectivity while ensuring secure employee access to information across various business units. Rogers was also ready to optimize its use of virtual desktop infrastructure to further bolster security and lower costs. To support this strategy, the company partnered with Citrix, leveraging secure access technology to power a more resilient, scalable digital workplace.

This emphasis on strategic resource management is perfectly embodied by Rogers’ focus on right-sizing—ensuring internal resources are aligned to actual usage needs of employees. By optimizing its virtual desktop infrastructure and leveraging the Citrix platform, Rogers was able to reduce inefficiencies while maintaining a strong security posture.
Citrix’s security capabilities eliminated the need for persistent VDIs by providing secure and direct access to applications. The streamlined access decreased maintenance efforts and enhanced user productivity by reducing log in times and improving application performance. Rogers was also able to take advantage of the Autoscale feature of Citrix DaaS, which automates resource scaling on platforms such as Microsoft Azure.
In essence, the company leveraged these solutions to right-size its infrastructure while maintaining performance and security.
Rogers is continually growing and expanding its business, and with this growth comes the need for quick and efficient means of onboarding. A great example of the progress made in this area was the acquisition of Shaw Communications. During this transition, Rogers utilized the Citrix platform to allow employees to connect securely to corporate applications.
Citrix Enterprise Browser enabled seamless access to web-based internal applications, ensuring that employees from both companies could work within the same digital environment without compatibility issues. These solutions enabled a smooth transition, eliminated the need to wait for lengthy network connection projects to be finalized, and allowed employees across different networks to securely access applications.
Citrix delivers high-performance, infrastructure-light secure access and provides Rogers with a scalable and integrated approach. The roadmap includes adopting new Citrix capabilities such as improved analytics, IPv6 support, and broader integration across business units. The company is also implementing Citrix uberAgent, which will help Rogers optimize IT performance by providing real-time analytics on user experience, application performance, and system health.
