Recently I had the absolute pleasure of talking to Sahar Golestani from Google Chrome OS Platforms Marketing. It was an absolute thrill, and if you are a numbers nerd like me, it was nothing short of numbers nirvana.

Sahar told me that in a paper freshly published by the Modern Computing Alliance (MCA), only 4 percent of survey respondents wanted to go back to the way things were before the pandemic. Meaning, going back to the way they used to work, where they used to work and when they used to work. In other words, 96 percent of people want greater choice and flexibility in how they approach their work life.

And, if we had left it at that, then it would seem to be pretty clear cut. Let people work from where they want, when they want, and on a device they choose. But a seasoned security team will tell you that it isn’t that simple. As employees spread out, the security threat vector also gets broader.

And that, my friends, is when Sahar dropped a knowledge bomb on me that left me speechless. A dream come true for many, I know. There has never been a report of ransomware on Google Chrome. Never? Yes, never.

Tune in and hear everything Sahar has to say on this episode of Between the Clouds. And when you’re finished, share your thoughts in the comments below. Are you a 4 percenter or a 96 percenter?

Watch the video below, then read the paper.
