Citrix is pleased to announce that Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop service customers now have access to the new Citrix Web Studio! This updated version brings to this familiar console several new improvements and a visual refresh that will help admins simplify their app and desktop management.

Citrix knows that efficient management of Citrix infrastructure is a top priority for IT admins, especially as they begin their move to the cloud. The Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops team has incorporated customer feedback and worked to ensure that admins can take advantage of faster search, quicker user interactions and a console that can handle environments at scale. For example, we’ve recently improved the amount of data density and updated how the interface responds in virtualized environments.

This is another big milestone for the Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops service as we move closer toward general availability of a web-based console. For customers concerned with losing any functionality not in the new web console, admins can still access their legacy console for actions not yet included in the user interface. Admins can also take advantage of the APIs this console has for their own scripting and automation purposes.

With the new Citrix Web Studio, we see 15 percent faster interactions across the board compared to the legacy console. Customers involved in our tech preview have seen performance gains improve by 2x.

“Web Studio is snappier than the old ICA session Studio. It’s instant on versus a good five-second startup,” says Al Salleh, IT Director for the University of Central Florida’s Department of Athletics, which has extensively leveraged the new Citrix Web Studio.

Here is an example of how speeds improve with the new Citrix Web Studio:
