At Citrix, we’ve long believed that customers want flexibility when it comes to choosing the best technology partner to meet their needs. Over the past several years, we’ve developed our products to integrate with other on-premises solutions for customers to deliver virtual workloads. We are even hypervisor agnostic, enabling customers to run Citrix workloads on competing technologies, like VMware vSphere, instead of our own Citrix Hypervisor.
Today, as organizations are developing their own cloud strategies, we offer unparalleled cloud choice on where they can run their Citrix workloads (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and more). This allows our customers to have the flexibility to run Citrix workloads on the platform that best fits within their strategy, instead of being tied to one cloud vendor. It’s something our competitors don’t offer. That’s why, as I’ve heard in many customer conversations I’ve had this year, we have customers moving from VMware Horizon to Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops service. And to help them, we’ve recently released a tool to make that transition as easy and seamless as possible.
VMware Horizon to Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops Service Migration Tool
At our Citrix Cloud Summit we discussed the many ways in which our customers can simplify and accelerate their transition to a hybrid, multi-cloud world. One of the features announced that helps to make that journey easier is our VMware Horizon to Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops service migration tool. (Watch the Simplify your cloud migration video for more.)
If you’re looking to move from VMware Horizon to the Citrix services, you can now install Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops agents on your virtualization hosts, export configuration from VMware Horizon, and import these machines to Citrix. This is especially useful when migrating dedicated (including Remote PC Access) VDIs from VMware Horizon (on-prem) to Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (service and on-prem).
And we offer full resources to help you do this and take the next step in your cloud journey, which you can read more about in our VMware to Citrix Migration Kit.
At Citrix, we take pride in being the “any” company: any device, any network, any location, and, now, any cloud. Why? We want to give our customers choices and enable them to make the technology decisions that best serve their organization’s business objectives.
