This is a guest blog post from Ulrik Christensen, Principal Infrastructure Engineer at Oncology Venture.

Oncology Venture is developing personalized treatment technology for cancer patients. Because we are based in Denmark and the U.S., we have users in different time zones, and it can sometimes be a challenge to provide sufficient support. We picked Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops to deliver desktops and files. The solution reduces the complexity on the endpoint device, which makes it easier to support.

We run all of our IT in the cloud, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is one of the platforms we use. We decided that the workloads for our apps and desktops should run on GCP. At that time, Citrix Machine Creation Service was not available for GCP, which meant that we had to create all workloads manually. That was a very time-demanding task because I needed to update the image at least twice a month.

At this year’s Citrix Synergy, Citrix announced Citrix Machine Creation Service for GCP. It has been available for Azure and AWS for a while, but this support for GCP shows Citrix’s commitment to giving customers the freedom to choose.

I was one of the lucky ones who was chosen to be the early adopters of Citrix Machine Creation Service on GCP, which has made updating my workloads a lot easier.

What can Citrix Machine Creation Service do for you?

Citrix Machine Creation Service enables administrators to create and update images for workloads. All you need to do is boot up the image and make the requested changes. Then shut down the image, create a snapshot, and update your workloads from Citrix Studio.

The benefits of Citrix Machine Creation Service

If there is a bug in the image, you can easily roll back to the previous snapshot. It gives you the tools to deliver apps and desktops on an always up-to-date platform. You save a great deal of time with Citrix Machine Creation Service, and it’s the perfect technology to get your workloads running in the cloud.

Create resources with Autoscale

One of the benefits that I also get with Citrix Machine Creation Service on GCP is Autoscale. With Autoscale, I can deliver apps and desktops to my colleagues in the most cost-effective way. It allows me to scale up my workloads when it’s needed and scale down when no one is using the system. All of this happens automatically, and, with Autoscale, I only pay for the resources I need.
