What do you get when you encourage a group of Citrites to follow their passions to raise money for a great cause?

No, this isn’t the start of a bad joke. It’s the start of an exciting adventure! A group of Citrix employees from our Cambridge (UK) office is attempting a never-tried-before (or so we think) challenge in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH). This will be a challenge of courage, stamina, fitness, skill, and, of course, technical know-how, paired with extreme car racing!

This is no ordinary car-racing challenge! On Thursday, June 13, three teams of Citrites will climb the UK’s three tallest peaks, across three countries — England, Scotland, and Wales. Once at the top of their peak, each team will set up a network with our Citrix data centers and compete in a multiplayer 3D car racing game using Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops technology to see which team can drive their way to success. Winning will come down to pure speed — both race pace and network speeds — in places where a 4G connection can be patchy, at best.

The peaks are Snowdon (Wales) at 1085m, Scafell Pike (England) at 978m, and Ben Nevis (Scotland) at 1345m. No matter how much planning goes into making this happen and achieving the goal, the three teams will be pushed to their limits with tricky terrain and unpredictable weather.

We’re doing this to benefit EACH, which provides care for children and young people with life-threatening conditions and supports their families across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk, and Suffolk. With patrons such as HRH Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, and ambassadors such as Ed Sheeran, it’s clear that EACH’s message hits home. EACH ensures that their hospices aren’t just about end-of-life care, they’re happy and fun places where young people can live life to their full potential. Just as Citrix offers the ability to work from anywhere so our employees can focus on the important things in life, EACH gives families flexibility and choice over where their children receive care and support. More than half of their care is delivered in the family home and community. Their mission and approach resonated with us and were among the many reasons we chose to raise money for this great cause.

Keep an eye out for us on social media around June 13 and please give what you can to support our geek dreams for an incredible cause. Learn more and contribute at https://www.justgiving.com/companyteams/citrix-cbg-3-peaks.
