Forbes calls it “inevitable.” More and more enterprises are taking advantage of the tremendous potential offered by cloud platforms and technologies.

For example, the 2018 IDG Cloud Computing Study found that 73 percent of enterprises have at least one application or a portion of their enterprise computing infrastructure in the cloud. And Forrester’s predictions for 2019 envision cloud as the new enterprise digital application platform.

Among Citrix customers, cloud adoption is being accelerated by the upgrade to Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7. A survey of nearly 800 Citrix professionals by eG Innovations showed that 45 percent are thinking about using Citrix Cloud services.

To help you make a smooth transition to Citrix Cloud — now or in the future — Citrix Education is launching an instructor-led course on February 11. This brand-new course combines robust training in on-premises administration for Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 with guidance on migrating the solution to Citrix Cloud.

More about that shortly. First, here’s a quick reminder why industry analysts are so bullish on cloud computing.

Cloud Is Gaining Traction

If you are thinking about transitioning your Citrix virtualization environment to the cloud, you’re in good company.

Many organizations appreciate the flexibility of a hybrid-cloud architecture, where core Citrix components are hosted, secured, and managed by Citrix and workloads can be hosted anywhere — in your own data center or in a public cloud like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

Other major benefits of a cloud solution include:

  • Reduced administration
  • Easy scalability
  • Cost-effective subscription model
  • High reliability and availability
  • Business-continuity protection

According to Jo Harder of Brian Madden.com, several factors are pushing Citrix Cloud adoptions forward:

  1. The upgrade to Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 can be a catalyst for rethinking the Citrix environment as a cloud-hosted system.
  2. Some IT organizations want to get out of the data center business.
  3. Citrix Cloud provides upgrades to core components that can help avoid issues.
