Denise Lee Yohn author of ‘What great brands do’ writes that with over 90% of businesses competing over the Customer Experience (CX), the new competitive frontier must naturally shift to the Employee Experience (EX). This is even more important as the workforce is also workforce is changing too. Creating, enabling and nurturing an excellent customer experience is what separates the winners and losers, but Forrester predict 30% of companies will see decline in growth in 2018 as a direct result of customer experience performance.

Working closely with Citrix, Fujitsu have published their findings, and by 2025 more than half of the workforce in major economies such as the US and the UK will be working in a freelance capacity, 30% of the workforce will be working remotely and millennials will make up 75% of the global workforce.

A recent Harvard Business School survey showed that the millennial worker, more than anything, is looking for an employer who empowers them. The traditional 9 – 5 doesn’t exist for millennials anymore. In fact, it’s been reported that because they value balance so much, 77% of millennials say a flexible work schedule enables them to be more productive, and they will actively seek out companies that offer this.

If we are going to engage on Employee Experience, we need to create a workplace that positively attracts diverse millennials and provides for a  inclusive workplace in which freelance workers can quickly and effectively contribute.
