International Data Privacy Day takes place on Monday, January 28. Citrix takes special note of the event, given last year’s enactment of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation, our customers’ need for secure computing environments, and the importance of data protection to all that we do as a company.

International Data Privacy Day commemorates the 1981 signing of Convention 108, the first legally binding international treaty dealing with privacy and data protection in Europe. The United States and Canada joined the existing European Data Protection Day 10 years ago in recognition of the importance of information privacy protection.

The principles of International Data Privacy Day focus on education, awareness and protection of privacy. To create broader awareness of how to better protect our online identities, the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) created the “Stop. Think. Connect.” campaign, a good online mantra for us all to incorporate into our daily digital lives. Themes include using good password practices, applying the latest patches, and being vigilant about checking to validate that your identity has not been compromised.

The Critical Role of Data Protection in Citrix Products and Services

Privacy and security protection are at the core of our suite of products and services. By enabling virtual applications and desktops, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops help isolate activity within the datacenter where virtual desktops and apps live. Citrix Endpoint Management solutions provide an integrated mobile device, application and content management suite. Citrix Content Collaboration allows businesses to decide where and how data is securely stored, and provides secure access to stored files on any device and over any cloud or network. And the Citrix Gateway supports multi-factor authentication, contextual access control and end-to-end monitoring across all application traffic. In turn, all of our product suites offer cloud-based options on Citrix Workspace, which allows customers to keep up-to-date on the patching needed to keep applications secure. Our digital workspace solution can give the peace of mind that comes with a simplified, secure infrastructure to deliver apps and data securely, anywhere, on any device, network, or cloud.
