Last week marked my first anniversary as CEO of Citrix. It was a year filled with many amazing experiences, ton of learning and tremendous outcomes.

As I shared a few weeks ago, we accomplished a lot in 2016. And we should all be incredibly proud of what we were able to achieve. From defining vision and strategy, to reinvigorating our culture, to refining our processes and increasing the pace of innovation, we set a solid foundation for Citrix to grow and thrive in 2017 and beyond.

While 2016 was a year of a significant transformation for Citrix, it is important to remember that transformation and reinvention must be constant in any successful company in this rapidly changing world of technology. That’s why we added Curiosity and Courage to our core enduring values – to remind us to always be on the lookout for what’s next and to be bold in our pursuit of excellence. We do that by showing Respect for others and Integrity in all that we do and, above all else, we remind ourselves that it takes Unity and acting as a single, powerful force to make it all happen.

We will live our values every single day. While there is still plenty of work to be done, together, we can turn our ambitious goals into realities.

Reflections on the Past Year

As I look back on the last 12 months, it is hard to pin down a single best moment.

At my first Citrix Synergy in May, I had the pleasure of unveiling the new vision and strategy for Citrix and announcing our march to the Cloud and deepened partnership with Microsoft. At my first Citrix Industry Analyst Event in September, we had a chance to first position Citrix as a force that helps companies address their Cyber Security concerns. And most recently, at my first Citrix Summit, we announced a number of exciting product innovations and new partnerships, and shared our progress on streamlining our processes and improving our rigor in execution. Throughout the year, I was humbled by the tremendously positive response we received from our customer, partners, and analysts and from all our teams around the world.

In my conversations with media, customers and partners, I was frequently asked why I wanted to become the CEO of Citrix. Put simply: after working with Citrix for many years and after meeting the talented and passionate people at Citrix, it was impossible to say no to such an opportunity. This past year has been the highlight of my professional career. I am honored to be a part of such a great organization and I am excited for our future.

A Strong Finish and a Stronger Start

Last week, we announced our earnings for the fourth quarter and for the year. We hit $3.42 Billion in revenue for the year – a 4 percent year-over-year growth – with every single geo exceeding their goals. We saw five quarters of momentum in our Workspace Services, with the last three consecutive quarters showing continued growth.

We made significant progress in our Cloud transformation. We finished the year with nearly 50 customers running their workspaces in Citrix Cloud, certainly exceeding our “crawl” goal for the year. This year, we strive to “walk” in the Cloud, and we are well on our way to doing just that.

We set a strong foundation in 2016, and as we move forward with unified leadership and teams, I am confident we are on track for great success in the months to come. We set out to reimagine work and build solutions that will define the workspaces of the future. While we have increased the pace of innovation over the last 12 months, we must do more. Realigning Citrix as a functional business structure allows us to move faster and to rethink the possibilities of our integrated solutions. When we defined our strategy last year, our mission was simple: We will build the world’s best-integrated technology services for the secure delivery of apps and data – anytime, anywhere, on any network, all as-a-service from the Citrix Cloud.

The key word in that vision is “integrated” – something that is only possible with our now functionally aligned teams. I am excited to have PJ Hough on board to drive our product management and Jeroen van Rotterdam to drive our engineering. With these teams unified, we can work toward an integrated, unified solution for our customers – a solution built with the highest quality, which will deliver on our vision.

Part of our efforts to refocus the company was the merger of our GoTo/GetGo business with LogMeIn Company, which we announced in July 2016. I am very excited to share that, today, we closed the transaction with LogMeIn! This accomplishment is the result of hard work by hundreds of dedicated team members across our organization. It has been astonishing to witness the sheer magnitude of energy that went into this effort, and I cannot thank this team enough for their outstanding contributions this year. With your help, we enter 2017 as a truly focused company.

I would also like to thank our GoTo/GetGo colleagues. Since the acquisition of ExpertCity, the GoTo brand and employees have made many great contributions to Citrix. I am excited to see what this incredible team can do with LogMeIn.

As I continue my Citrix journey, I would like, once again, to thank our team members around the world, as well as our customers and our partners, all of whom are vital contributors to the Citrix story. We move forward with force, with focus, with a purpose, strategy and a plan, to make the extraordinary – possible!
