It’s hard to believe that 2016 is coming to an end and that Citrix Summit 2017 is just around the corner. As I look back on 2016, I am incredibly proud of what Citrix has been able to accomplish this year — a year of significant transformation for our company.

2016: A Huge Year for Citrix

Since joining Citrix in January 2016, I’ve met with thousands of employees and hundreds of partners and customers in more than 20 Citrix locations in a dozen countries around the world. Having worked with Citrix for many years from the outside, I had a great deal of respect for the company and knew that it was an iconic and trusted brand. But I never could have imagined the tremendous love I’ve seen this year from all corners of the world, from our team members, our partners, our customers, and from the industry at large.

In May, I had the pleasure of attending my first-ever Citrix Synergy, where we — along with more than 5,000 of our closest friends and supporters — were able to announce our renewed partnership with Microsoft — a renewed effort that has already seen mutual customer wins, complete strategic alignment between our two companies and product integrations that place Citrix as the unmatched solution for the secure delivery of Microsoft apps and desktops.

At Synergy, we also set forth on our journey to the cloud, sharing our vision and worldview that will shape the way we move forward. We rolled out our new mission to power a world where people, organizations and things are securely connected and easily accessible, so our customers can make the extraordinary possible. And we laid out our strategy to achieve that mission: We will build the world’s best integrated technology services for the secure delivery of apps and data, anytime, anywhere, on any network — all as a service from the Citrix Cloud.

We knew that this transformation would not be an easy one. Even though Citrix spent the past few years consolidating infrastructure and integrating technology, we still have work to do to deliver a single and integrated platform to our customers. However, I’m confident that we have the footing, strategy. and plans to make that solution a reality.

At the Citrix Industry Analyst Event in September, we shared these aggressive plans with the analysts, and their feedback dramatically bolstered our confidence in this strategy — as one analyst Tweeted, “Historically #CitrixIA is rich on vision. This year, hold on to your hats as #Citrix shares execution plans in the market.” And shortly thereafter, we were able to announce the fifth consecutive quarter of operational improvements for Citrix ¾ a testament to our significantly improved execution.

The Foundation of Our Strength

When I first joined Citrix, there was one thing that became instantly clear: there is an amazing and unrivaled company culture driving this team. The foundation of trust, respect, integrity and compassion is what makes Citrix, Citrix. This is why we are so much loved and supported by all constituencies in our industry. And, to power our transformation this year, we prioritized the work to advance our culture even further — to keep those elements that have always made Citrix a great place to work and to add on new values that would encourage our people to be bolder, think bigger and innovate faster to make Citrix the best it has ever been and to drive us into the future.

Respect and Integrity have always been Citrix values, and they show through in how we work, not just with each other, but also with our customers and our invaluable ecosystem of partners large and small. But to build on those important pieces, we added Courage, to empower us to dream big, and to be bold and selfless in those dreams; Curiosity, to help us strive for continuous innovation, learning and improvement; and most importantly, Unity, to remind us that we will only win if we collaborate and win together as one company and one ecosystem.

Looking Ahead to 2017

While we are working tirelessly to execute on our strategy, we are also thinking ahead to the new forces that are shaping the world and the way people work so we can reimagine the workspaces of the future. It is an exciting time for technology, and I see 2017 as the year we begin to see predictive analytics play a bigger role in the way we work. We’ll start to see smart technologies help us figure out ways to aid our customers to improve the productivity of their people and ways to provide the cyber security needed in a world of ever-broadening security threats. And Citrix will be leading the way.

We are excited for 2017, which will see huge Citrix product momentum and innovation that will drive us into the future. But to achieve our goals, we must live our values — we need to be courageous, curious, and we must act as one.

In the spirit of the season and year-end celebrations, I want to take a moment to thank all of our customers for trusting us with your business. You are the reason we push harder toward our goals. As our mission says, we only succeed by empowering you to achieve the extraordinary. And most importantly, ‘Yes’ to the cloud.
