Get set for VMworld 2016: five days full of innovation to accelerate your journey to a software-defined business — from mobile devices to the data center and the cloud.
The Citrix NetScaler team will be at VMworld to demonstrate our integration with VMware NSX, to demonstrate our new built for containers version, NetScaler CPX and to show how our recently released Management and Analytics System can manage your NetScaler instances on Amazon Web Services.
Advanced Networking Services with VMware NSX and Citrix NetScaler
In today’s world, where applications are virtualized and dynamically scale out, an open network virtualization architecture is a critical element of the software-defined datacenter. It provides the networking agility and programmability necessary to simplify datacenter IT operations.
VMware NSX® is the network virtualization platform for the Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC), delivering the operational model of a virtual machine for entire networks. With NSX, network functions including switching, routing, firewalling and application services are embedded in the hypervisor and distributed across the environment.
Citrix has automated deployment and configuration of NetScaler application delivery functionality with the VMware NSX™ network virtualization platform via NetScaler Management and Analytics System. This integration enables cloud administrators to programmatically insert best-in-class NetScaler services into software-defined datacenters built on VMware virtualization technologies.
NetScaler MAS integration with VMware NSX abstracts away the traditional complexities associated with physical network topology, enabling users to programmatically deploy NetScaler services within seconds. NetScaler MAS automates the deployment, configuration and management of NetScaler services into virtualized networks, traditional physical networks, or into mixed physical and virtual networking environments.
NetScaler MAS integration with VMware NSX enables customers to:
• Enable users to spin-up NetScaler services in their VMware-based cloud environments at the same time they are spinning up virtual servers, virtual storage and the larger virtual network
• Allow self-service NetScaler configuration by users directly from the VMware vCloud® GUI
• Free users from dealing with the complexities of network topology and configuration, allowing them to focus solely on the NetScaler functionality that their applications need
• Provide deep visibility and control to critical business applications and mobile services across public and private cloud environments
What we will be showing at VMworld
Network Services Automation with VMware NSX and Citrix NetScaler
This new demo, just for VMworld, shows how you can get to a software defined data center by using NetScaler and VMware NSX together. See how dynamic policies that originate from VMware NSX are pushed to NetScaler with the NetScaler Management and Analytics System (MAS) acting as the service manager. We will show how network VLANs and SNIPs (subnet IP’s) are allocated and provisioned by NSX and provisioned on NetScaler. We will show how you can use our innovative Stylebooks in MAS to configure and automatically apply application parameters.
Application delivery for micro-services with NetScaler MAS and CPX
Together, NetScaler CPX and MAS form a micro-services proxy, management and analytics solution that allows developers to deploy load balancers at scale with auto-configuration and reconfiguration based on changes and updates to the micro-services infrastructure.
With NetScaler CPX and NetScaler MAS you get a solution that avoids the stitching together of service discovery and container management tools. See how this solution enables the auto-configuration of CPX load balancers and the display of telemetry and instant feedback regarding the health and performance of the containerized applications.
Application Visibility and Analytics across the Cloud
The NetScaler ADC is becoming as elastic as the rest of your next-generation application stack on the cloud. It will not only help you control and balance your applications to support user load but also scale itself for “fire-and-forget” simplicity. We’ll be demonstrating how the NetScaler Management and Analytics System service can monitor and manage all your ADCs across your hybrid cloud landscape on AWS. NetScaler is available for on-demand trial via AWS Marketplace so you can check it out when you get home after the show for free.
SD-WAN with WANopt in a single appliance
This demonstration shows that a single application—in this case XenDesktop—between two host machines can simultaneously leverage all available WAN paths and not be limited to the bandwidth available to the WAN path they are initially assigned to. It also illustrates seamless failover as WAN links are taken down, showing no user perception of issues when outages are occurring. You will see that SD-WAN can deliver deep ICA classification/prioritization channel steering, application visibility with HDX Insight & WAN Insight, deep HDX application visibility and true link aggregation and sub-second application resiliency.
About NetScaler CPX and MAS
NetScaler CPX is a containerized form of NetScaler that is made to fit in microservices application environments. NetScaler CPX is lightweight and is easier to place into production than the traditional ADC due to its integration with container management systems. Development teams can customize and configure NetScaler CPX in their development environment and know that it will work the same when they deploy it in production because NetScaler CPX is built from the same code base and management APIs as the traditional NetScaler ADC.
NetScaler MAS is a centralized network management, analytics, and orchestration solution. From a single platform, administrators can view, automate, and manage network services for scale-out application architectures. In addition to reducing operational costs and simplifying tasks, NetScaler MAS provides real-time analytics to help administrators identify and address application performance and security issues across the infrastructure.
Together, NetScaler CPX and NetScaler MAS form a microservices proxy, management and analytics solution that allow developers to deploy load balancers at scale with auto-configuration and reconfiguration based on changes and updates to the micro-services infrastructure.
