Wow! It’s been a pretty intense couple months since AWS announced the AWS Accelerator Program for Citrix back at Synergy in May. As one of the people who helped launch it, I’ve experienced not only the exhilaration that comes along with scaling a business rapidly, but also some of the unavoidable pains that come with along with that. In our case, the challenge is more about scaling the mobilization of our people and information than the technology, but for many it’s just the opposite.

For example, I’ve seen a lot of customers who are migrating applications to a cloud stumble because it requires a very different way of managing those app stacks.  Yes, cloud is incredibly cost efficient for Citrix workloads, “infinitely” scalable and globally available. But with that dynamic capacity comes dynamic pricing and the days of “let-it-run” computing are over. “Pay-as-you-go” is the new mantra and that means everyone needs to watch their costs by carefully controlling how much cloud they use and when they use it.

It’s interesting, but perhaps not surprising, to note that as we help customers through this transition we’ve had to adapt ourselves, to better help customers optimize their ROI from migrating to cloud.

What exactly do I mean? Well, for one thing, we’ve tuned Citrix Lifecycle Management for XenApp, XenDesktop and Citrix Cloud on AWS to not only automatically deploy, monitor and upgrade your Citrix environments but, also, to now use Smart Scale for your XenApp capacity, so that you pay for only what you need. We’ve seen customers cut their IaaS bill by as much as 70% when properly managing their capacity — and that’s a real game-changer for your ROI model.

We’ve made similar adaptations in our software-defined networking too. You see, NetScaler’s history as a leader in the application delivery controller (ADC) market has had a lot to do with how it helps dynamically optimize and protect the flow of traffic between users and applications, all of which are ever shifting in size, composition and/or location.  It’s kinda like your business … ever-changing. But until now, NetScalers themselves were physical network appliances or virtual software appliance replicas.  That is a really powerful way to control your enterprise grade network wherever you do business, but still more of a network appliance than a cloud service.

Well, no more. Your NetScaler ADC is becoming as smartly elastic as the rest of your next-generation application stack on the cloud. It will not only help you control and balance your applications to support user load but also scale itself for “fire-and-forget” simplicity.

If you can, stop by and and have a chat with us at AWS Summit Santa Clara this week, where we’ll be demoing how the NetScaler Management & Analytics System service can monitor and manage all your ADCs across your hybrid cloud landscape, as well as a preview of our latest integrations with AWS Cloud Watch, AutoScaling, CloudFormation, Lambda and more.

Best of all, NetScaler is available for on-demand trial via AWS Marketplace so you can check it out when you get home after the show for free, or request for your free AWS Accelerator cloud credits to go with your free trial of Citrix Lifecycle Management any Citrix workload!
