Citrix Synergy 2016 is in full swing in Las Vegas and if you’re lucky enough to be here, you can see first-hand the latest XenMobile innovations that help customers digitally transform their businesses.
Secure Mobility for the Best BYO Experience
Be honest: do you like to enroll your personal device with your company’s IT department? It’s OK if you said, “No” – most users aren’t too keen on handing over control of their phone – or other device – to IT.
That’s because the perception is that IT and the company (and, ultimately, their boss) can see what they do, who they talk to and pretty much everything else and feel like it’s an invasion of their privacy. That’s a matter for another discussion altogether.
But since there’s so much apprehension about control of personal devices versus control of your company’s intellectual property, let’s instead talk about XenMobile 10.3.5. Released earlier this month, this new version of XenMobile offers a mobile application management (MAM)-First approach, which balances security and experience for enterprise mobile users and IT alike.
With many strong security features coupled with a rich user experience, MAM-First allows for app-specific controls, such as wipe/lock an app, Single Sign On across all apps in the container, encrypted data at-rest / in-use / in-motion and seamless delivery of productivity efficiencies with inter-app workflows all delivered out of the box.
MAM-First is a clear benefit for employees who are reluctant to enroll their personal device and install an MDM client on their device. But it’s great for IT, too! It’s a huge advantage for companies that are not allowed to install an MDM client on the user’s device due to privacy requirements.
Password-Free Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM)
How many passwords can you remember at any given time? Some say the average number of passwords people have to remember can range from 7 to 15. It’s no wonder people forget them or mix them up. Trying to remember all of that is just a hassle. It’s especially hard when your company requires you to create a complex password (must be at least 8 characters, contain 3 special symbols, a prime number and a hieroglyph!) to access data and apps that only adds to the pain and jumble of more passwords.
With XenMobile 10.3.5, you don’t have to worry about that anymore. Once you complete the enrollment, you can use certificate-based authentication or TouchID, which eliminates the need for passwords.
Consider this: your company allows you to enroll into your company’s mobility management program, powered by XenMobile 10.3.5. Once you’re enrolled, you’ll no longer need to remember your mobile user name and password for your first loginbnor for any login after the enrollment.
You might be asking yourself, “How does that work?!” At Synergy 2016, Citrix is demonstrating with XenMobile 10.3.5, the concept of derived credentials for mobile users, which eliminates the need for users to remember a mobile user name and password or Active Directory username and password. Citrix is partnering with Entrust (Synergy booth #728E) and Intercede for deploying derived credentials for mobile users which is coming soon.
Mobile Threat Detection
As increasingly mobile workers, we spend a lot of time on the Internet during the day. That raises the risk of losing valuable proprietary and confidential company information on our personal devices, including the data in use and in motion. Mobile threats from malware, malicious Wi-Fi networks and unpatched known vulnerabilities are all too common these days. Skycure (Synergy booth #726E) and Citrix have teamed up to deliver a comprehensive mobile security solution with the combination of Skycure’s Mobile Threat Detection and XenMobile’s Enterprise Mobility Management security capabilities.
Citrix and Samsung continue to deliver strong security controls to protect company information on Android devices. XenMobile customers using the Citrix MDX container with a KNOX-enabled device will benefit from the tighter integration between the two solutions. For example, using XenMobile, customers can bulk enroll KNOX-enabled devices using the Samsung KNOX API.
Rethink Apps – Create Mini Apps without Writing a Single Line of Code
More and more companies recognize the productivity benefits from mobile apps. And yet these same companies have limited application development resources to digitize common paper-based processes. Citrix will demonstrate the Secure Forms Preview and share customer stories that highlight successes with their use. With Secure Forms, our customers can digitize processes, including those that require access to legacy, back-end systems – and they get all of this without writing a single line of code.
Securely Chat and collaborate with Confidence
Is chat the next killer app after email? People are using chat more often than email and carry the same behavior when they are at work. Chat is fast, it’s easy, it’s mobile … but is it secure? If we ask IT if native or generic chat app is the right place to share company, the answer is obvious. If security is built into chat service it would serve a much larger audience in different industries and enterprises.
Companies that use chat heavily to get business done, will be delighted to see a demonstration of WorxChat Preview which provides enterprise-grade secure messaging and collaboration. WorxChat supports notifications to indicate presence, typing, etc., and it is a Citrix MDX-enabled mobile app that uses the Microsoft Lync back-end infrastructure. This allows IT to roll out WorxChat without having to change the existing investments in their Lync back-end while gaining the advantage of delivering a secure solution.
XenMobile Cloud adoption is growing rapidly as more companies prefer to outsource the day-to-day mobility management of devices, data and apps. Citrix helps customers deliver a highly secure and rich experience based mobility service with XenMobile Cloud-based fulfillment, which includes managing user devices, data and apps.
Customers that recognize the value of a complete mobile workspace will soon benefit from Smart Access. With Smart Access, when XenMobile detects non-compliance, such as a jailbroken or rooted device, Smart Access will prevent the launch with an HDX app (delivered by XenDesktop and XenApp) from Worx Home and connecting to the corporate network. Smart Access eases the pain with better management of secure access.
