Recently, Microsoft hosted their inaugural tech conference aimed at C-level and business decision makers called Microsoft Envision 2016. And what a conference it was.
Unlike the multitude of vendor conferences I’ve attend over the course of the past year—including Citrix Synergy—this one didn’t have any traditional product placement, deep dive solution discussions or feature / function breakout sessions. Envision was truly a high-level conference with broad topics like “Cloud, Security and Compliance.” If I had a nickel for every time I heard “Microsoft Azure” or “Office 365,” I’d likely have enough money to buy a pack of chewing gum … in 1983. In fact, many of the speakers, like Commander Scott Kelly, weren’t even from or related in any way to Microsoft.
Of course, as a flagship partner of Microsoft, Citrix was a sponsor of this new event. Our booth was staffed with an A-Team of Citrix employees who were on hand to answer questions from attendees on how XenApp and XenDesktop enhance security with Skype for Business, accelerate Windows 10 migrations, and ease moving workloads to the cloud.
I can tell you this: it’s no coincidence that we announced our own XenApp (trial) offering through the Azure Marketplace to align with Envision’s golden thread of cloud, cloud, cloud.
Try XenApp in Azure—It’s Easy!
That’s right, with a few simple mouse clicks, Azure subscribers can go from zero to hosting apps on Azure using the best-in-class app virtualization solution from Citrix: XenApp. Whether you are an existing Citrix customer who is cloud curious or a new customer who wants to do your own Proof of Concept, but without using your own infrastructure, trying XenApp on Azure is for you.
Just log into Azure with your subscription, search for Citrix and launch the XenApp Trial. In almost no time you have a fully functioning POC for XenApp hosted in the cloud. Can you install your own apps in this trial and test yourself for cloud readiness? Of course you can!
What are you waiting for? Satisfy your cloud curiosity today.
Oh, and if you are a parent or had parents at one time, then grab a glass of wine and some snacks and watch Tim Shriver’s closing keynote from #Envision16. I will warn you, get some tissues, because it’s a real tear jerker.
