I’m excited to announce that the Synergy session catalog is live—and I will … announce it, that is—in just a minute! But first, I want to share one of the best things about the conference, which is the way that all the elements have been designed to work together.

Whether you choose a circular or a linear experience, you’ll be building layers of knowledge throughout the week at Citrix Synergy. So, you can attend an advanced technical session in a breakout room, then come to The Citrix Booth Experience and see the technology in action at one of the demo stations.

Want to get hands-on? The Solutions Demo Sandbox will let you experience the solution firsthand. Then, if you have even more questions—about design, deployment, architecting—you can move over to the Ask the Experts Bar and have a one-on-one conversation about your particular environment. Along the way, you’ll meet customers who are using the solutions in real-world environments, and can hear directly from them about challenges and successes.

Speaking of customers, we’re keeping the focus on them this year—customers appear on both keynote stages, in the Meet the Experts Theater and in many breakout sessions. Keep your eyes open: our customers are your best resources for learning about the benefits Citrix brings to the enterprise.

I mentioned surprises above, and this is a big one: Grammy Award–winning alternative band Fall Out Boy will headline the Final Night Party! This event, already one of the most popular at Synergy, will now be unforgettable thanks to our special guests. Look forward to an incredible night in downtown Las Vegas under the desert stars for a food and music festival exclusively for Synergy attendees.

Okay, back to the reason for this blog: the session catalog is live, and it’s overflowing with breakouts, special events, Meet the Experts Theater presentations and sessions with our Citrix Technology Professionals. We’re also introducing the inaugural NetScaler Connect, an event-within-an-event for Networking IT professionals that spans the hottest topics in networking, including application delivery, SD WAN, DevOps and security.

It’s hard to believe we’ve scaled back the number of sessions to give you more opportunities for longer, deeper dives because there’s so much to choose from. These are the sessions most likely to be in high demand. If you haven’t already registered and built your personal agenda—well, what are you waiting for!

Let’s take a look at my top ten sessions to watch for:

CTP Sessions
SYN104 Citrix and Nutanix: the inside scoop—Go deep into the nitty gritty of desktop virtualization with Nutanix. Jarian Gibson and Kees Baggerman will show you why Nutanix Acropolis is the best match for Citrix environments and how hyperconverged infrastructure can decrease your time to market, increase user perceived performance and bring focus back to what’s important: users.

SYN326 How to seamlessly migrate 20,000 VDI users between XenDesktop farms—At some point, you’ll have to move your VDI population between infrastructures. Join Paul Stansel, Citrix CTP and infrastructure architect at Travelers and Shane O’Neill, senior engineer at Aetna, as they talk about the perils and pitfalls, and how to deal with those pesky hypervisor connections.

SYN239 UX and the enterprise desktop: like oil and water—Out of the box, Windows is lightning fast and responsive. Enterprise desktops, on the other hand, tend to be slow and bloated. Why is that? Watch as renowned experts Aaron Parker and Helge Klein “enterprisify” a clean install of Windows, measuring and explaining the impact of each configuration change on the user experience.

Hot Topics
SYN107 Deliver Skype for Business with XenApp and XenDesktop—Citrix and Microsoft have codeveloped a “v2” architecture that is now the only Microsoft-endorsed solution for delivering Skype for Business in a virtualized environment. Learn how to deploy this solution successfully, both for users on the corporate network and remote workers.

SYN215 Monitoring best practices for your Citrix infrastructure with new SCOM management packs—The new Citrix SCOM management packs (acquired from Comtrade) are an enterprise infrastructure management and administration solution that provides monitoring for the entire portfolio of Citrix products. Learn how to improve ROI on your Microsoft SCOM installation and unify monitoring of Citrix-based infrastructure with the rest of your IT environment.

SYN321 Securing the published browser—Browsers are the most common published application in virtualized environments—and also the most exposed to security issues, as they’ve historically been one of the most vulnerable pieces of software on any end point. Join this session for a discussion of “when bad things happen to good browsers,” including demos of common security problems and their solutions.

NetScaler Connect
SYN130 SDN, SD-WAN, NFV: differentiate hype from reality to develop your game plan—This NetScaler Connect super session, delivered by industry thought leaders, will give you the bottom line about SDN, SD-WAN and NFV while helping you understand how ADC and SD-WAN are related parts of an end-to-end application delivery solution. Learn about SDN, NFV and SD-WAN benefits and use cases and hear about the skills you need for building and operating a software-defined network, as well as what to look for from your network equipment vendors.

SYN145 Security: the never-ending balancing act between users and hackers—For security professionals, the goal is simple: find and eliminate application vulnerabilities while ensuring relatively quick and simple application access for trusted users. This NetScaler Connect super session will focus on the latest in identity and access management as well as datacenter and cloud security, providing visibility into new concepts, technologies and trends to help enterprise IT strike the right balance.

Customer Spotlight
SYN102 Customer panel: Citrix Workspace Suite in my organization—Hear first-hand from Citrix customers how they architected and adopted a mobility strategy, how they evaluated potential solutions, and how emerging technologies led them to Citrix mobile workspaces.

SYN223 I bet on ShareFile and won—Hear from a Citrix ShareFile customer who will talk about the journey from selection to purchase to implementation and user adoption. This customer will share firsthand how and why they chose ShareFile, talk about their use cases, and how to successfully work with internal IT teams and the ShareFile Customer Success team to implement ShareFile in a complex environment.
